Just curious. At the urging of many of you fine folks here I decided to ditch the plastic pots and go with fabric pots.
I am in a tractor feed place and they have burlap sacks diiiiiiirrrt cheap
Does burlap work?
I stopped here for work pants but saw the gardening section and was askin about fabric pots and he said they have burlap and alot of gardeners are using them here in Vegas
Whatchyall think??
I believe that the fabric pots are cheap enough and are far stronger than burlap. Plus, the felt is densely woven so provides some measure of moisture retention.
Ok cool thanks!!
Fabric brand recomendation??
I use nylon, burlap and blue jeans.
I’ve just been buying them at my local nursery. 10 gallon are like $5.
I am not so much concerened about dollar amount
I just they looked cool
They are used burlap sacks they transport coffee beans with them
Its funny when I was checkin em out there were a bunch of lil unroasted coffee beans fallin out of em
Cool
Feed back on burlap?
And jeans??
These sacks were 50 cents each and are about the size of a 10 gal but taller I figured I would cut em to size
Oh , and again thanks sooo much everyone for the help
I hope to gain enough knowledge to contribute
Burlap sacks are what started smart pots , you should be ok.
tell more about the blue jeans please.
Right on I am gonna do burlap
I will be bedding the pots soon
Seeds any day now
And right on for the info
No problem @Growit keep me tag in you grow I would love to see your plants
I would suggest spending the money and going with fabric pots to start. Somebody on here used burlap (or something close to) and ran into problems down the road. I would just spend the $12 now and be done with it.
Here’s what I found on Amazon. I’m using ones from Vivoson which are a little more expensive but working great.

These are what I am going to use. Pretty cheap and supposed to be pretty good
@Growit I would personally would stay away from the burlap. I was also going to use some burlap on one of my grows until someone pointed out that they deteriorate fairly quickly. I never actualy used them but headed the warning I was given and am going to try the fabric pots I linked above.
I would be afraid of one falling apart at the worst time. Spend the money and buy the purpose built ones. They do recommend buying other than black. That said, most of mine are, of course, black lol.
Mine fell apart outside tomatoe plants. The jeans works great. I just used my old one
Sorry been real ill past few days
Will catch up soon and I will start a grow journal
And gotta a great story about my wife and her skepticism about mj for medicine.
Hope yall are havin a wonderful holiday weekend with your loved ones!!
