Excited newbie here! 4x4 indoor

I use the PAR setting on my app – as that seems to be the reading most talk about and people reference. Are you using it on an iPhone? If so, are you using a diffuser – paper wrapped around the top of the phone/camera? My PAR on my plants, right now, about the size of yours is 400 - 580. Oh yeah, and if I use it on my Android, I get different readings. Not too far apart, but fairly significant.

ya i heard from a buddy that the android readings are different from iphone. Only real way to know for sure is buy a real meter and they aren’t cheap. Just keep it somewhat in range and you’ll be fine in all actuality.

That’s what I do. I just use the iPhone unless I can’t find it – which is 10 times a day. :upside_down_face:

The all have par readings but like the CFL red, CMH 4200, inc regular, and inc halogen… then the sunlight one is locked for 2.99 which I thought was the more accurate one from the DLI thread.

Yes I use the diffuser… I think I’ll just buy the add on and check again tonight.

Are you using apple? There’s no extra charge that I’ve seen using android. Are they charging you for the sunlight setting?

I immediately paid the $5.99 (for iPhone) – when I got the app – so I would have all possible measurements available. Very cool. Are these two reading from different spots? Different plants?

There’s no extra charge in Android because it’s still in Beta, according to the developers, and they aren’t 100% sure of it yet.

Remember the Android version is still in Beta. When it comes out and the developer is sure of it, they will charge an upgrade fee. I paid a one-time $5.99 to get all the app’s measurement capabilities. Well worth it.

Yep I use direct sunlight with a diffuser. That’s the setting that came the closest to the apogee meters.

I was confused when I looked at purchasing… my wallet was upstairs anyway lol :joy: I was wondering if each one was a separate price… I would easily pay the 6 for all the settings vs 3 for one… and I like my apple better anyway :joy: so valid point will continue on as getting it tonight then… as far as the readings were the two first setting on the app that didn’t cost… just wanted to compare to see… same plant and spot… clearly I don’t understand enough about light but I was surprised that different bulb would be measured differently in the same measurements… if that makes any sense :joy::rofl:
