Encouraging stretch

I have two GG autos from RCS, both about 35ish days old. They started outside then when I noticed the pre-flower I brought them inside to the 12/12 space. Lights were about 18 inches above at the time due to other plants height. One GG shot up and stretched out nicely. The other is growing and budding fine still but hasnt stretched at all. I assumed it should since it became the smallest plant but its been a week and nothing… Ive removed a couple fan leaves to reduce chances of bud rot and raised the container to account for its shortness. What can I do to make her stretch? Is this normal?

Just a different phenotypes.

Probably too late.

If it wasnt too late is there something I could do next time?

Probably not, just genetics as you had one stretch and one not.

Lower light intensity, shorter light on time, and more red light can all increase internodal spacing. There is always genetic factor in play though. You could manipulate your light to make them stretch, but no guarantee one wouldn’t stretch more or less than others.

I dont know anything I could do except remove it completely and put it under CFLs. If I kept the 12/12 or less to see what happened, would it still be ok?

I already told you it’s probably too late to make a difference with these plants. Then you asked about what you could next time. Why try to relate that to this grow?
