Hi there,
So quick question I’m setting up a small scale grow in a 1.5x3 foot tent I’ve come across the electric sky 180 and the advertisements and reviews all seem spectacular. However I’m failing to see any real evidence of these lights doing well grow journal etc which has me slightly concerned about their quality. So does anyone have any first hand experience if this light will suit
Thanks a million and if anyone has any pics of this light doing a good job please post them up.
Cheers
I think the electric sky lights are the best on the market, I just bought two of the 300s you can find more power but imo you won’t find anything that will produce better watt for watt and this I’m saying by watching it first hand and talking to a few other people who have them
Edit = wanted to add that in that size tent that es180 will run nice n cool with a small 4" exhaust fan and will fill that tent with light perfectly
Yeah there seems to be a bit of info on the 300s and quite a few people running them. I’m wondering if the 180 has the same success in a smaller tent.
Yep it’s all the same light temperature mix (spectrum) which is what makes them work so good, as long as you don’t ask it to do more than it can you won’t be disappointed with it. By ask more I mean try to put it in a 4x4 and expect wall to wall flowers. The light will do what it’s designed to but it is a smaller light perfect for the tent you have up to a 2x4 any bigger it won’t be enough
I’m eventually going to put the 2 es300 in a 5x5 tent is why I went with the 300 for now they’re going into my two 2x4s which imo is a little to much light but it will work great until I get them in the larger tent… I really only bought them now because of the sale on them right now I saved 400 bucks from their full price I like saving money
I’m hoping it will be good for wall to wall flowers in a 1.5x3 foot so hopefully that’s not asking too much of it.
Definitely not asking to much in a 1.5x3 it should do very good in there
Very nice tent full
I’m trying to get used to the ES300s I have, I’m almost done with the first autos under one of em and they look good really nothing special but I’m new to autos and the light I’m sure I’ll get better. The other one I just started three photos under it so to soon to judge anything
nice, I’m not sure how this is going to go the next few weeks I’m thinking I should’ve ran with 1 plant. They’re only going to fill out from here so who knows if the one on the right doesnt start to flower soon I might give her the chop. I figure it might give me some chance of a decent harvest. She is showing a few pistols but I topped it a few weeks ago and I think it really set her back.
I think it looks good in there, I would make sure you have plenty of airflow going on in there and I would do some selective defoliation to open up some light and air to some of the lower budsites. I can’t see the side view but if it’s bushy around the bottoms I would clean up like 1/3 of the bottom cutting everything from that 1/3 down off. Here’s a pic to give you a visual this pic is a download from the internet
yeah theres plenty of airflow im running a 6 inch extractor, hence the cross bars to help with the tent sucking in. theres also 2 small clip on fans as well. My biggest battle is keeping temps down at the moment and a week of wet weather and another week to go, fingers crossed weather clears up for final weeks of flower. I do have a dehumidifier but I find it increases temps a few degrees and we’re heading into summer so not ideal I’ll prob only run it when lights are off.
They look great! Great growing!
I have a ES300 and love what I’ve seen from it. Unfortunately I didn’t get mine until 2 weeks before harvest. Before that I was using a budget light. Once I used the ES300 for the last 2 weeks, I saw a big surge in development and my plants seemed to really respond well to the light. I can’t wait to use it from start to finish on my next run! Aside from the power of the light, I also like the way the ES are made! Just solid, solid lights overall IMO.
Where did you find the sale? That’s an amazing discount!
@LKualapai Here’s my two cents: I would keep a close eye on them during the Holidays and New Years. No doubt they will have another sale. Get on their email list also. Not only will this give you a heads up on sales, it will also give you other ways to save. I filled out a questionnaire and saved an additional $10 off. I only paid $485.19 USD for a ES300! Worth every penny!
And I think @MeEasy saved $400 cause he bought 2. Not $400 off 1.
Thank you for the sound advice! I need to buy 2 ES300 in the next week or so. Will look for discounts.
So I’ve had an ES 300 for about 3 years. They are awesome lights, but I recently retired it in favor of an HLG350R. Nothing against the ES, it gave me great results, but I like HLG better for a few reasons. The ES is built like a tank, that’s good in ways, but it’s also a lot of weight hanging on the tent poles. Combined with a filter and fan it can add up. As awesome as the ES did for the plants, I always found the dimmer to be a bit unreliable, and saw little fluctuations while using it that I never saw on full power.
Last thing, I like looking at my plants under the HLG light much better. With the ES, I would need to turn it off, or take my plants out of the tent if I needed to examine any leaves. Under the HLG, I can easily see any issues with the leaves. I’m going to post pics of 2 little plants under an ES300 in one tent, and then 2 little plants under the HLG in my other tent.
