Just curious if any body had an opinion on Electric Sky 180 V3 » Wideband LED Grow Light – The Green Sunshine Company in a 4x2 6 vivosun tent?
I haven’t used it or that company, I took a look at its Amazon listing and website and I’m just giving my opinion based on the posted information.
For me, the light spread doesn’t look great from the ePAR results. At 18” the middle of the 2x4 is at max 627 , which is just below enough light for flowering cannabis. At the outer edges, you’re down to 200-300, just enough for vegetative growth. When it’s lower at 12” hang height, way too much light in the centre and still not enough on the edges. The difference in ppfd at 12” and 18” seems suspiciously different, when comparing the Amazon listing to the website.
It’s also 180 watts, which is 22.5 watts per square feet in your tent, which again seems a bit low for flowering.
One plant would likely do quite well. I expect it wouldn’t be able to fill the entire 8 square feet with a canopy of dense buds.
You might want to look at cocoforcannabis, they review a lot of grow lights and give recommendations for various size tents. They also have a grow light calculator, where you can enter the grow light you’re looking at to get an estimate of how it will do and look at how much light you get per cost.
I would stop by hlg’s site and see what is available. The 260 is superior light and probably at least $100 cheaper with any discount code. They don’t make hlg-300L r-spec anymore but may find them on refurbished pretty cheap. The 350r is going to cost more but is also more than double the light. If they have it available refurbished with discount may be are $300 or less.
Plus hlg is doing 20% off sitewide
It’s worth pointing out that the Green Sunshine Company went out of business quite a while ago, so if you see ES-300’s or 180’s for sale, make sure it’s legit before you pay.
I used to have an ES-300 in a 2x4 tent, but I upgraded to an HLG 350R a while back and I like it much better.
