Dual hose air conditioner

Hello everyone! Waiting on an ordered AC. I have a grow room in basement. Have very high RH and wondering if this type air conditioner will bring in fresh air to the room? My lung room is the rest of the basement (unfinished) and RH stays pretty much what it is outside, sometimes worse. My plan is to seal the grow room off from the rest of basement if I can get enough air exchange with the air conditioner. Can anyone chime in?

I would suggest a dehumidifier 50 litres or bigger probably around 230 to 350 dollars.

Dual hose portables dont exchange any air in the space they are cooling. The air comes in one hose, goes through the condenser coils picking up heat and then out the other hose. Air in the grow space will circulate within that space.
However it will remove humidity very well.
Single hose systems will pull air out of the space its cooling, but they are horribly in efficient and wont lower humidity hardly at all. A dehumidifier will be much better.

I was running a humidifier, it just added heat to the room.

Yes, thats a drawback of dehumidifiers.

Both dehumidifiers and portable air conditioners put out quite a bit of heat. The exhaust from a portable A/C needs to be routed outside the room or you will heat the room more than you cool it.

I have the same problem in basement grow 70 to 80 percent rh in summer. A humidifier would do the opposite of what your trying to achieve I’d get a dehumidifier to suck that moisture out of the air.

I’m struggling myself. I have 2 large dehumidifier that maintain my basement at 50% plus the central air pulling out moisture. I still have to run a small dehumidifier in my flower tent. I have a portable ac I have used in the past but the dehumidifiers are much more energy efficient and less heat. My portable ac has to be vented to an outside room or out a window and I just don’t have that option :v::green_heart:

I have a window that I’m going to put the hoses from AC out. I have a filtered air inlet to the room from the rest of basement. I will need to let in fresh air from some where, either from inside or outside. I’ll have one 6" port left to the outside. Think I will be able to find a happy medium?

I have to pull air in from an adjoining room in my basement. I just cut a hole in the wall and ran an intake duct pushing air in from an exhaust fan that’s placed outside my grow room. Your ac will definitely help. Mine has saved me a few times with reducing RH.

I use a dehumidifier. Ac will make room much cooler. 82 degrees all day and nite long.

My grow room was running in the 90’s for a few weeks. It was hell. I made my husband cut into our ac duct system to add a 4 inch duct that runs to my grow tent. It has helped tremendously. With my ac running to my tent, I now have my grow room in the 70’s daily. I live in the south and I have 2 dehumidifiers running in my tent now with chilled tech led lights. My humidity is awful here. Sometimes it is almost 80% humidity outside.

If I had central air I could do that too. I have a split upstairs that takes care of the first floor, but it doesn’t have ductwork.

:joy: just a couple days ago, I was just looking at my furnace/ac duct work that runs above my tent. I thought :face_with_monocle: hmm, that would sure cool things down in the flower tent. I also thought, I would surely be in trouble if I did it :grimacing: He was already upset with me when he noticed the portable ac cooling my room, and he noticed the additional (3rd) tent. I wonder how long it would take him to notice the new duct work
I never really said that I care if I’m in trouble or not  :v: :green_heart:

I posted my husband until he did it for me. He is a cheapskate so I knew he wouldn’t want to spend a ton of money on an portable ac. The hardest part for him was putting a hole through the foundation bc the tent is in our outside storage building on our house. It took him a few days bc he didn’t want to mess it up. It has brought our temps down so my plants r happier.
