We built a small drying closet in our grow room. I have a fan and a humidifier in the closet. I’m able to keep the humidity at 50 - 54% but can’t get the temp lower than 75f. Am I within range?

Try to get humidity up to about 60 o/o . It will be ok where you have it but drying will go quicker

Ideal temp and rh are 60/60 make for a perfect dry should be a 10 to 14 day dry id be extremely careful having a humidifier in the same area with drying plants dont want excess moisture that can cause mold and or bud rot

I had a humidifier in the room I set up for drying and reading what you said I’m beginning to think that’s why almost all of my top big colas had mold and no other parts did what can I do next time to prevent that from happening again that was my first actual harvest so I’m pretty clueless any info is really appreciated it was heartbreaking tossing over an ounce of weed

If you want or need to use a humidifier dont use it in the tent with the plants use it in the room the tent is in also a humidifier with a controllable humidistat so that it can be set to 60% and shuts off once it hits 60% and dosnt just constantly run till its empty and make sure there is air flow dont put a fan directly on the plants bit under the plants so there isnt stagnant air if you are drying in a open room mobe the humidifier to the other side of the room big dense buds are prone to mold sense they are dense and air cant really get inside when i have big dense collas i will separate the nugs and inspect them it sucks messinf up big beautiful buds but id rather have a bunch of good smokeable buds than having to toss it after all the work thats put into it

It’s just one from the ol Walmart lol I have central air so I had to put a humidifier in the room I converted into the drying room without it I couldn’t get the rh much past 40s and with it about 55 was the best I read a post about cutting the bigger buds in half what’s your thoughts?
I was wondering about cutting up the bigger buds but just wasn’t sure damn I feel stupid guarantee I will be breaking them up next harvest way better than losing it your info is much appreciated

No need to feel stupid it happens lol ive been growing for a few years now and hell my auto i just harvested and dried i lost a couple buds due to mold wasnt anything significant onpy maybe like 2 2g nugs and it was only cause they where kinda glued to each other from being so sticky lolwe cam only do so much to avoid these issues but some times its just determined to happen haha and its no problem at all thats why we are all here

Man that’s much appreciated I’ve pretty well mastered the art of stupidity lol and was hoping it didn’t spill over into my growing 
I put two more fans in the tent cause I wasn’t sure if I had enough air moving or what had caused the mold but now I’m feeling better about the situation

If your drying in a tent i would only have 1 fan running you just want to move the air around so it dosnt get stale you also dont want air blowing directly onto the drying plants as it will result in a to fast of dry and it wont taste or smell to appealing it can get a hay smell and taste drying and curing is all about trying our best to preserve those terpenes
They say 60/60 but that seemed impossible for me. I used my tent I grew in and even had an AC unit to blow air into and couldn’t get it below 68 F. Mine dried way too fast at 60RH and 68F but turned out great so

I do have a humidifier with a humidistat that’s pretty good. You should try and give it a go, they do get pretty pricey though man. $80s - $120s.

It can definitely be hard to hit ideal conditions just to get that 60/60 as best as possible i hrow in my basement all concrete and it stay at 60 to 65 year round so thats where i dry as well i just have a dehumidifier running all the time unless im in veg but i almost always have a plant im flower so i shoot to keep my basement at 55 to 60rh at all times

No sir I was drying in a spare bedroom it’s about a 10x10 I was referring to the grow tent I only had one little fan in there and I had read on a few posts and got to thinking that maybe I got the mold before I harvested. all the rest of the harvest was mold free since 93 lol but just the biggest buds of course and so far I’m pretty sure something went wrong and I ain’t got a clue what everything smells kinda like dirt with a hint of hay I chopped everything down and hung it kept the rh as close to 60 as I could but couldn’t get the temps much bellow 70 I let them go till the limbs started snapping then did final trim and put in jars I’ve been burping twice a day I have one of those hygrometer things in the jars and it’s only reading 47% humidity did I let them dry to long before placing in jars hers pics of trics before I harvested or did I harvest to early

Yeah I probably need to invest in one of those that junker I have from fallapart just doesn’t seem to cut it do you have any recommendations I almost feel like I need one in my grow tent the highest rh I can maintain is 41% and I’m currently in veg of my next grow do I need to get that number up? Here’s some pics I just did my first fim and some lst or attempted anyway lol

The hay smell probably came from drying to quick and also at a higer temp drying environment terpenes are very volatile to heat thats why for drying and long term storage its important to preserve the terpenes by keeping them at a cooler temperature
the hay smell goes away after curing

Dang it that’s what I was thinking too i just couldn’t get the temps down there in that sweet spot I really appreciate the info I’ve been wracking my little brain trying to figure out wtf I did and to not do that again lol I smoked some of it and it seems Stoney but just no taste and not the smell I’m wanting

I was hoping that maybe there was still some hope that not all is lost lol it does seem to be better than when I first put everything in jars I really appreciate your help I’ve been bummed out cause I thought I messed it up I know I’m taking notes for the next round lol
