I saw a bunch of those. I want to water from top to keep coco saturated from top to bottom. I definitely thought about those kind. It’s my first grow in coco
I get it. I had above ground drippers when I started (also in coco). But my system would continue siphoning from the bucket to the plants after the pump shut off.
It didn’t hurt the plants but it was a waste of nutes.
The subsurface drippers I switched to need too much pressure to siphon.
I’m no expert on coco it’s my first grow with it. But its the next best thing to hydro. So I’m thinkin only the bottom half of the pots need the water. That’s where the roots are headed anyway. I’ll let you know how my Auto Pots work out. It’s my first grow with them too. And this is my 9th grow in all. ![]()

When I grew with HF in 3 gallon pots, the roots fill the entire bag right to the top. That’s why I was thinking keeping the entire 3 gallons of coco moist to attract root growth. My first time in coco. I’ve heard good things about autopots
Your gonna be fine Brother and stay tuned for what happens in the auto pots. I’ll tag
you in my journal

Getting close. Transplanting later today
But here the irrigation system lol
I tried to upload a 10 sec video but it’s apparently not allowed. But here’s some pics
@AfgVet
Same I have minus light sensor. What is that for?
It’s the timer, it has a light sensor on it so I can tell it to only water while lights are on. I had it set up to water for so many seconds every hour
So, i thought I’d update this post if anyone’s following ![]()
It’s 5 weeks 2 days. I’ve had some really slow growth probably because of temp… its 72° max. I need a heater. I also FIM’d these so that slowed it a bit and really made them compact.
I haven’t turned the sprinkler on because of low hanging branches and they’re just starting to use noticeable daily water. Im planning on starting irrigation in a couple days. So far these are small, but i know if they get growing good and larger, they’ll dry those bags right out. So that’s when the irrigation will help the most i think.
I had envisioned using it sooner. Oh well
By the way, i figured out a bit more, the pump is 45 psi with 2.7l flow per minute (with my sprinklers set, its 1 gallon per 2 minutes) The one i have is the cheapest lol, it’s about $30 to buy alone and they sell much better ones with same specs up to $100+. Mines loud af, so I’ve insulated it carefully and it sits on a towel underneath, draped over the top. Inside the tent, this way, it’s very tolerable. I’m guessing the better ones are much quieter
And… here’s the timer i bought. I can set the infinite cycle or on off timed cycles. If i plug this timer into the timer that controls the light, i can set it to run the infinite cycle. Like 10sec on 15 minutes off only while lights are on. I haven’t figured out how I’m going to set it up

Later taters
LOL , I have that same pump for emergency ![]()
As far as timers, if you plug your equipment into a smart plug, if you have wifi at grow room, you can create your on off schedules and you can manually turn on or off from phone anywhere. Plugs are like 10 bucks. You can also get smart plug strips with multiple smart plugs.
As far as pumps, vivosun has a 800 gpm unit for $18 and there is an identicle off brand, same unit. For like $11.
Run to 1/2 inch tubing to halos.
And if you are worried bout running dry then get a second bucket with a cheapo pump plugged to smart plug to fill your reservoir remotely.
If you get a wifi camera you can point to your reservoir water level indicator to monitor levels from phone.
Its high tech for low budget. I can set this up for cost of pumps some guys are buying in $100 range.
Everything in my grow room is on my smart home system. Pumps, lights, fans, humidity and temp.
So how has the system worked. I am looking at doing the same
This post is a couple years old so @bonger may not be hanging around. But I’ve been using something similar, idea wise, now for a year or so. I pump water/food from my rez with a small aquarium pump. Can’t remember the size, maybe 650.? Thru 1/2” line that adapt down to 1/4” at the containers. These feed 1/4” line that is formed into a circle, slightly smaller than the diameter of the container. I have Rainbird drip irregaters somewhat evenly spaced around it. This is all held above the SOIL by stakes made for the tube. There are 1/4 turn shutoffs throughout. I don’t have a switch on the pump, just plug/unplug. I’ve made several changes and mods, but for me it is a great timesaver. Plug it in and unplug when I get the runoff I want. I can post some pictures later if you’re interested. I bought all the parts separately online and local rather than a kit.
that helps once I get setup ill be doing that
