It’s been a few days since I treated the powdery mildew, I hit it with a one two combo and hit it a second time 48 hours later and so far so good, the changes I made in air flow and circulation are keeping things a lot drier and my RH is staying in check really well. I don’t want to get overly optimistic but I think I won against the mildew, plants look pretty dang good to me even if over crowded. Fingers crossed for no more problems
As long as you keep good airflow you be good beautiful job my friend happy growing
I’ve really noticed how much faster they’re eating and drinking, getting the tiniest bit of smell inside the tent. Still mold free I’m inspecting twice a day I haven’t seen any signs of it
Looks awesome.
thanks my friend!
The tent is certainly developing a funky odor, everything has been fairly well under control humidity wise, the little ac infinity heater stopped the night time spikes, and I have not seen any mildew.
At first I was really eyeing the plants in the front but as they started to flower the runtz crosses in the back are packing on some trichs already and seem stinkier
You’ve got it dialed in @doober they praying for you my friend happy growing beautiful plant
Thanks! @Reed71 feeling good about it but I’m super excited to smoke it
I read that you should have your defoliating by day 21 and that’s usually when some people also stop treating so I did another treatments day after trimming a ton of leaves. I may could have removed more but I took like a whole trash bag full
I kind of feel like a goober, I was looking at my mildew and high RH problems as a circulation issue instead of an air exchange issue. I had my exhaust fan set to idle at 30% for smell and to ramp up when it got above 78.
I set the humidity high point to 50 and just for kicks I got a duct booster fan with a dial and put some paint strainer bags over it to keep pet hair out, and ducted it into the bottom so fresh air is pushing in and pulling out up top, now I’m staying at 78-80 on temp and 49-51 on humidity with really high air exchange, exhaust fan now idles on 50% and ramps up dynamically when the RH breaks the high point, and the duct fan is constantly pushing in fresh dry air. Today was the first time I didn’t wake up to 67-68% humidity in a long time. I expect to fight bits of mildew for the rest of the grow, I may even lose my grow to some mold/rot since it’s already getting foot holds on occasion.
But at least every thing else is finally sorted out hopefully
Things have been awesome since I ducted the exhaust from my dehumidifier into the tent I’m holding 78-80 degrees and my humidity spikes are controlled very well it kind of yo-go’s from 45-55 but the 70% spikes during the night are over.
Also re-read the mixing instructions on my silica and I had been feeding it at quarter strength and pushed it up to full strength. I read it plays a huge part in a plants immune system and I’m wondering if that’s why I couldn’t keep the PM at bay
Girls are looking great bro.
sound’s pretty good. 10% swing in RH is nothing to worry about that a pretty good range. 55% might be a touch on the high side by late flower but shouldn’t be an issue if you can keep everything else on point.
Be careful with the silica. It is good stuff and it will help boost resistance to mold, rot and bugs, but it sticks around for a bit so you might dial back the frequency if your going full strength to avoid excess building up since it doesn’t flush as easily. Plus if I can get the same results with half as my, why wouldn’t I save a little on nutes.
many thanks my man, I don’t think I’d have made it this far without y’all’s help.
I’ll be careful with the silica, I was using 1.2ml for 6 gallons but when I saw I had been using it so weak I upped it to the full 2.5ml per gallon for two feedings and may just drop it completely since I’m moving into mid to late flower. I’m hoping they really start packing on some mass soon today is week 4 since the pistils showed up, both strains are 8-9 weeks in flowering time so i need to workout how to time my flush. i also read staying below 45% RH after week 5 can really promote density so i may run at a lower rh if i can balance it.
This is when your silica will really shine. Risk of mold and rot pretty much increases steadily until your well into the drying phase. The plants transpire more and spores can really take hold in dense succulent buds.
Looking back at your photos I would say you’ve been in flower for a 7-10 days. Transition takes time too. Getting a good start date is critical for accurate timing. your looking for puff balls that look kinda like a dandelion. Then start the flower clock. It will also help keep your feed schedule accurate.
Idk about that, but running lower temps and RH in late flower can help with the aforementioned mold risks and preserve quality while ripening.
Took another crack at thinning out the middle today, I think I did ok but may have taken too much off, every time I get elbow deep in there I break something so I’m gonna stay out of it from here on
Looking good @doober
Keep up the good work. Looks like they might be able to handle a little more light.
I could probably lower it a smidge and keep an eye on temps, but I have also considered side lighting or just upgrading to a better light, ac infinity makes a 500watt light for 4x4 tents but its kind of steep imo at 569 bucks and only netting me an extra 70 watts over what I have now but I’m sure there are cheaper options out there.
plants are looking a bit beat up in person with wind damage and such. I’m just feeding every third day and riding it out and checking for mold and pests daily
A few blemishes is no big deal. It’s going to happen. I usually run 600w for a 4x4ish area but that may not be necessary for you.
