Hey,
My first outdoor grow and I’m noticing several spots on the plant with these white spots on it. They don’t wipe off when I rub them. Picture is taken in the second week of flower. Think it’s white powdery mildew?
No, you’re good. WPM will wipe off, and isn’t a spot here, a spot there. Your plant looks great, lots of open areas around the branches for good air flow.
It looks like you might have thrips, which is what I’m dealing with right now, but mine is inside in a grow room. @Budbrother identified it for me. Hopefully he will come on and help you out. Here is a picture of mine.
I see one place on one of your pictures that looks just like a trip on mine.
Beautiful plant, BTW.
Here is the place on yours that looks like a thrip to me. It’s the picture with your hand in it. That larger yellowish one that looks like a tiny worm, looks just like the thrips on .mine.
I would check the under sides of my leaves with my phone camera on macro should tell you if you have any of the bugs this looks like. Hopefully I’m wrong but it looks like it could be two spotted spider mites or thrips. They will be under your leaves. Hopefully you find nothing but they can be dealt with for sure.
I vote spider mites. I saw a couple pix that appear to have the right shape and could possibly see the legs
Plus the shape and space of the spotting indicate this to my eye
No white powder mildew , Once you see it you’ll never forget it.
Once you see the Borg ( spidermites ) you never forget…
Parm cheese sprinkles.. like the others said, spider mites. Ask me how i know ![]()
capt jacks dead bug every three days i would also pick up another alternative such as azamax or mammoth to rotate with so they dont build up a tolerance. Make sure to fully drench under leaves also. These are all safe to use until harvest. I would def do a bud wash when you harvest also. There are other harvest safe stuff you can use, but Capt Jacks is eqsy to find and affordable.
That’s very true! I had WPM on my first grow, and it was outside. I had a terrible time with it in this hot humid state I’m in. I’ll never try outdoor growing again.
I love my controlled environment inside grows , but it is nice to throw a couple outside. Growing outside is always cheaper with a few more challenges (pests mold ,mildew, thieves, deer )
Good luck ![]()
I had it all but thieves. It was a nightmare. The only way I would try it again is if I had some seeds that I really didn’t care about and would never stress over it if it was showing any of those nightmares. I would try to help it without spending a lot of time and money and if it didn’t make it, I could say, Oh well, chit happens… lol!
You never know next summer might be the perfect summer. We’ve had a lot of rain This year, high humidity perfect recipe for mold and mildew. I have a couple.outside I’m trying to get to the finish line.
Thank you all for the kind words and help. Are you guys saying that those spots themselves are bugs? Or the bugs have left those spots?
If spider mites or thrips, what happens if I ignore it?
If its spider mites or thrips it will ruin everything if you ignore it. Captain jacks dead bug to start then get some Dr Zymes eliminator they are organic and not harmful to humans or animals. You can spray Dr Zymes all the way up until harvest.
Either way if you do or dont do anything plan on a thorough bud wash
Most of the spots are poop or damage. You have to really look at it magnified to know which are spider mites or thrips. Don’t ignore it, get it taken care of as fast as you can, like Plumdand said, it will ruin everything. And that’s a mighty nice plant to let that happen to it.
Dr zymes all the way through harvest, but not capt jacks? Do I need both of them?
Oh man I’ve gotta bud wash too? Never done that before
I’m doing some reading and not understanding why I need both. I have some Capt jacks I think. I need the Dr zymes as well? If I’m reading correctly Dr zymes kills immediately while Jack kills the bugs when they eat the leaves
The reason you want both is because they will build up a tolerance and the same one wont be effective. If you rotate, the tolerance is minimal and you you can control the infestation.
