Does size really matter?lol

Hello everyone! I am at the end of the dry and I have a good size top bud out of the bunch (12-13 inches) do I need to cut that down before jarring or should I leave it whole?image|666x500

I’d at least cut all the fan leaves. Trimming the sugar leaves makes it smoke a Lil smoother too, but if you want the buds on the stem like grape go ahead it’s just less space efficient. Wait a cotton picking sec those leaves look undried, be sure to properly dry your plant to 58-63 RH before jarring

Trim it up after or before u dry it and once its dry chop it to fit the jar not unless u are using a big jar

Leaving it whole is a little risky because they can hold more moisture when you break it up it dries evenly and cures better. Obviously my opinion but I formed this opinion trying different ways

I’d say trim all the big leaves off that u can get off without digging into the bud. Let it dry in a room of 60rh and 60 temp once the bud feels dry on the outside or the stems snap not just bend then u can jar it with a meter after 24 hrs being sealed in the jar look at the rh meter if it is over 62% then shake buds around in jar open jar and leave open for an hour or 2. If real humid in jar dump out for a bit to get them a bit drier. When in jars watch the rh to not cause rot on the buds. If u keep good eye on it and let the rh drop 1 to 2 points at most per day til u stabilize at 58 to 62% once there then I can leave in jars and open once a day for air exchange and that’s all. Good luck nice looking bud too

I appreciate your response! That was a picture when I chopped the plant down LOL I wasn’t able to take a current picture last night of the dried bud, I just wanted to show the size of the bud I was talking about

I appreciate everyone’s response! I did a little wet trim when I cut the plant down last week and last night I did some manicure trimming before I jarred them up. My issue now is Rh humidity! I don’t have a dehumidifier anymore, and right now I’m sitting at 70%.I got the temp at 67°F. Are those two way boveda packs safe to use? I’ve heard good and bad about them.

I actually did trim it down off the main stem!:+1:t3:

That is what I do and it makes drying easier with the heat and humidity I have here in South Texas.

MrPeat you use the boveda packs?

@LilRon Yes I do use them. I buy the 62% ones.

You’ve never had any problems with loss of flavor or smell from your batch while using them?

I don’t cure the marijuana with the Boveda packets. Once that couple of weeks have passed, then I add 1 62% RH pack per 64oz amber mason jar.

So I haven’t seen a loss. But to be fair I don’t have full control on my sense of smell and taste due to a chemical accident with Xylene.

Oh wow!!! That’s crazy sorry to hear that! I’ve been reading and watching videos and you know how that goes, some say one thing others contradict and say the opposite. I’ve been seeing some videos and reading information on line that says to place one of the packs in the jar while curing. I have a batch from a previous run that still has a weird smell to it I don’t know. I know there might be a green smell/grass smell in the beginning stages of curing but I have yet to produce a final product that is like top shelf that I have purchased in the past

Once you dial in your grow, you will see it gets better and better after each crop rotstion. I have been to Colorado 3 times and what I grow now makes their Top shelf is subpar to what I grow now.

In fact a buddy of mine said its the best he has ever had in a long time.

That’s awesome! That’s where I’m trying to get! I’d rather have A decent amount of top shelf to enjoy Then a huge quantity of dirt weed! Right now the buds are dry on the outside but they have a little squish to them and the humidity is sitting at 70 I left them open for about an hour and it’s still about the same

Curing can take up to 2 weeks. Mine usually finish in 7 days.
