Do you really have to wait 4 months for the complete cure

I was told that after you finish growing to use terp bags and let the buds cure properly anywhere from 3-6 months is that true?

It depends on how you handle the fresh plant material. Personally I find 6 month old flower to smell ‘old’.

One thing you can do is perform a bud wash at harvest. A cup of peroxide in 5 gallons of water; immerse flower and swirl around for a couple of minutes then hang to drip dry. This will remove surface contaminants that can cause issues in cure.

I dry on a nylon mesh rack at 65F/45% RH. The RH is low where 55% would be better as you want it to take 7 to 10 days to dry. Note: “when the stem snaps it’s dry” is too dry. Stem snapping happens after cure. Typically 62% is your target RH.

I cure in jars. I do the whole burping daily for about two weeks. Then I let 'em stand in a cool dark place for a couple of more weeks. Once I feel the terpenes have maxed out I put the jars in a non frost-free freezer for long term storage. I have flower that is 5 years old that is as fresh as when it went in. I pull enough for my own use and keep everything else in the freezer.

My circle never lets it get to 4 months…lol. My personal stash gets there but I vacuum pack it and cure that way. Works great. Not 1 dispensary will give you a 4 month cured flower. They cure bare minimum and sell.

I cure in grove bags for a minimum of 8-weeks…but have had them in there for almost 11 months.

My understanding is that the average cure time for winers of the Cannabis Cup is 6 months.

No. Dry them first – then cure. Drying is pretty straightforward; curing preferences vary across growers.

Such as? If I haven’t sprayed the plants with anything and haven’t had an insect problem, if the wash still needed?

Human skin cells, pet dander, dust, smoke, you name it.

While a slow dry and cure tends to improve flavor and smoothness, it is important to note that each of us grows our own.

We can dry it as slowly or as quickly as we wish. We can cure or not. It is our choice to make. You can choose how to handle your buds depending upon what your goals are. :vulcan_salute: :man_mage:

I dry to 62% then bag in foodsaver bags and pulse to preferred amount. I have done every way possible almost. This method has really become my standard now. Open it up and as fresh as put in but cured.

Too fast. A hang dry best. Wedryer. Or even paper sack to sweat or cardboard box. As long as temp and humidity close you are gucci. Lower temp over high. Higher humidity over low. Example. 45% no good. 55% ok. 60% is what i like as i go in at 62%. 70%plus mold area. I do 60 since i sweat the last 3% in paper sack.
70° bad mold area fast crispy dry. 60 ok. 50-55 I like as slow dry. Just MY numbers and opinion. Also your style of wet trim or dry makes a difference. Dry trim is a pain but really protects trichs. Wet trim saves time both in trim and dry time but loses just a bit of terpenes without the fans protecting.
