I’m designing (dreaming) of a room with just auto pots and a 50 gal reservoir with a blue lab nutrient dosing system

3 XL and 6 regular in use right now

Has anyone else broken the 1/4" pipe connector on an aquavalve? Mine are 3 years old and seem to be getting fragile :frowning:

We grow buds has the aqua valves for $20 or an additional xl system for $50 which is a better price point

Ugh I know! Look at the Milwaukee auto PH controller it’s much cheaper and rated well.
Grows looking good!

@DVM are you washing your aqua valves after each grow? They advise throwing them in the dishwasher after taking the silicon pieces out. The salt is eating away at the plastic over years I assume.

I’m going to be setting up 4 more this week because I lost half my plant to a rouge fan in the middle of the night.
These are my autos in fox farms soil mix with Mykos and 30% perlite.

The big thing with aqua valves is root growth. Ive done several grows with the autopots now and all my bigger plants have had root growth down into the aqua valve reservoir and one plants roots actually clogged the aqua valve about 5 week’s into flower.
Stay away from organics and keep roots out of the aqua valve area and make sure your trays are nice and level and you probably won’t ever have any troubles with the aqua valves

There are six or seven autopot users over in Bergmans Lab

The wifey just let me jnow today that the roots are growing outside of the fabric containers.
Suggestions? Figure I’ll trim those roots when I get home.
These pots didn’t have pot socks should I buy them for my next grow? My hydro store only had the regular plastic XL system so I got it and it comes with disks not socks

@Nicky Those roots should die back naturally being directly expose to air.

They are in water though sooo… Not so much it’s a concern for autopot users and normally we have the copper pot socks on but my hydro store didn’t have them I need to source them online

@TDubWilly thanks for the tag. I’m around occasionally but mostly lurk these days. I have one auto growing right now and have been preoccupied with other life stuff.

I use the Smartpot XL system with my Autopots. The 1/4 connectors and tubing are the same as for drip irrigation, so if anyone needs to replace those, you can buy them on Amazon or, in arid areas, in your local hardware store.

I agree with the comments about washing the valves very well and in their entirety, immediately after completing a grow. It’s easy to leave them until the next grow starts, but then those salts sit on the plastic for much longer than they should.

Mine have been rock solid so far.

Is there a specific site I should look for the best priced auto pots? Maybe I’ll buy one to try. Start from there.

just putting mine together… only 1 XLhere… web hydroponics was best I found… making own 10 gal res tank. I’m still undecided on medium. Still have 3 bags of ff bush doctor coco loco that I had plans on just hand feeding and now reading a plain coco coir with perlite with some ph perfect sounds almost better for the autopots… and i have gh 3 part flora neuts sitting here already too… and hate to totally change plans…lol Have a modified air pot, went taller and a little smaller diameter… that I would like to do a top feed to waste on and sounds like coco coir there may be a better choice too… anyways… if I cant get seeds to pop… which is another long story… all plans go on hold until I can get some new ones… lol.

Y, that was my experience with cloth pots in autopot XL trays. Maybe 1/2" of root growth outside the pot and then they died off. I was suprised they air pruned even though they were in the water of the Autopot tray. I had planned to lay root control disks over the aquavalve opening in the tray but it wasn’t necessary. YMMV

I got my XL pot socks here:

https://www.autopot-usa.com/products/

They arrived in MA in 2-3 days

I’ve just started my first ever indoor grow. I have 4 regular Autopots and 4 XL Auotopots using a coco pearlite mix and GH nutrients. I started another thread but am thinking of starting a grow journal myself as it seems like they get more activity and I know I am going to have lots of questions
