Do I cut the leaf's off just before harvest?

Good morning. New grower here. My question is , do I cut all/most of the fan leaf’s off just prior to harvest? I see pix of Growers plants, and it seems like most of the leaf’s are gone. Thank you. scott

Some do, some don’t. I don’t. I maintain my plants like this one all the way to harvest and trim only as necessary to maintain good airflow within the plant’s canopy. A plant needs it leaves to manufacture the sugars the plant needs to be healthy.

I do. We find it easier to wet trim than dry. We also have a bowl trimmer which is a major improvement: went from days to hours for harvest.

According to Bruce Bugbee… Since leaves are where the photosynthesis happens it’s better to leave some.

After harvest, I usually wet trim then hang to dry… I’ve personally had better success than when I hang them with leaves to get a longer dry.

I do a rough wet trim and a polish dry trim. I dry individual flowers on a sweater dryer hung over a shower curtain rod in a small bathroom where I can control temp at 68F and RH at 60%.

I just trim them off when I do a rough trim before cutting off the buds for the bowl trimmer. The plants you’re seeing with no leaves is because most of them died, and they plucked them off when they’re dead. You’ll likely have a bunch die off before you’re ready to harvest which looks like several weeks yet.

@MidwestGuy Nice!

I found these hangers last grow… Before, I had been using skirt/dress hangers with two clips in each…

These have many:

I can dry about a pound of weed on the 3 tiers. I usually get btw 3/4 and a pound each from my plants and it fits great.

Same for me… Before the many clip hangers, I would run out of clips… No more room for more hangers… So I’d end up using string… Tying two branches together then hanging from the string over the middle of the 2 clip hangers.

Now no issues… But your solution takes much less space… Mine is a cheap 4x4 tent with heater, fan, and humidifier…with a charcoal filtered exhaust on low.

I trim based on season. If we are talking about trimming before the cure and not just defoliation during flower. In the summer, when my swamp cooler is on, my tent is only 6 ft from the down draft and I can maintain 60% humidity easy so in that case, I cut per cola and trim off most of the sugar leaves. In the winter it is polar opposite. The heater sucks all the humidity out of the house so I cut and hang the whole plant and do not trim anything until after the 10 day dry. Right before I place em in the groves, I then do the final trim.
