My Brother I think they look better already ![]()
I crack myself up sometimes ![]()
Nice idea to use the retired auto pots for run off collection. At least I think that is the idea
. Good luck
on the new system.
That’s actually temporary. I ordered some 15 in saucers to catch any leaks. Blumat isn’t a water to runoff system. ![]()

My Brother one other thing I don’t have to water to runoff to check my numbers that meter checks soil ph and ec along with moisture ![]()

That will take the run off check out of the equation then, save a little time.
Is checking the run off numbers a soil deal?
I went down a bad rabbit hole chasing numbers from my run off in my first grow. Now I only focus on what is going in. The plant up top let’s you know when it is happy or not.
I’m no expert on the runoff thing I grew in autopots 5years till this grow. But I’m more worried about soil moisture than ec. But that’s a damn good number to know. That way you know how the plants are feeding and if you are over or under feeding. The meter is for the Blumat System. But I will be monitoring all 3 Moisture, EC & ph. It also measures soil temp. ![]()

Me too
I don’t chase numbers till I have a problem now. ![]()
My thoughts are. I would just feed till I see run off. And then back it off a touch. I do that for the first 3 weeks when starting new plants. I only feed them every other day also to let them dry a bit. I think you are following this grow of mine. I will tag you after this up date. You can see where I went wrong and let 2 of the one gallon pots sit to wet at the start and 2 plants were not happy about it lol You are getting some nice evening shots. I should grab a few when the sun sits on the ocean here
Just got my Pulse meter and it’s gonna be a game changer! @Budbrother does it come pre calibrated?
Cool deal time to crank er up growmie ![]()

No you will need to calibrate it to coir medium. Calibration is done before roots fill pot, unlike the old video they had showing growing plants. Guess I’ll see if a new video is out. Nope. Just the old one.
I calibrate to my soil mix while in totes. That’s the only way I can get 5 matching read points. Seems I could always get to 4 then nope with plants. In your case with choir it’s totally different. Have you run a basic check yet? Setup mixed medium coir, that should be pretty standard and basically calibrated.
@Budbrother Yes I did do a media calibration. I saw that video. I still want to calibrate it one more time. I had one caution and one red flag during the calibration. Is the reading for moisture in actual % of moisture or VWC? My coco was saturated and it went no more than 61 % that has to be VWC right?
I have the moisture set to 35 min and 65 max

Common sense would indicate it is measuring.
Volumetric Water Content (VWC) measures the ratio of water volume to total soil volume, typically expressed as a percentage.
I got common sense. But I skipped science class to get stoned. I didn’t know what VWC was till about a hour ago.

Was answering another tag but Steve got you
Don’t worry about that, same here I had to google it as I run my grow soilless at 100% VWC. ![]()
What would I set my min moisture to and max to or am I close I did a ai search and don’t trust it!
