I’m not sure what’s going on here . What could have caused this going to be a lot of seeds right ?
Not going to be any seeds.
Looks like an all male plant.
Pollen only.
Nope,
Thats just flat out male.
What can I do with this ? I don’t have any female plants . So this isn’t going to make any seeds or bud ?
That’s correct. Trash it
So no buds ?
Where are the seeds from?
Buds come from female plants. Pollinated females produce seeds and the seeds develop in female calyxes (flowers.) The only use for a male plant is to collect pollen for breeding.
Ok because the strain was trinity. So I would like to cross that with something if I could store the pollen
So when can I collect pollen?
The male flowers will produce a white to yellow fine powder when they ripen.
The biggest problem with storing pollen is, it’s super hydrophilic. Think paper bag of concrete left in your garage all winter. It’ll be a brick by spring. So you gotta make sure to use desiccant packs and seal it in an airtight container. It’s the biggest problem with storing pollen is keeping it bone dry so it’s like dust and doesn’t clump together like damp flour. Remember, it really wants to soak up the moisture. The problem is moisture is what kills and deactivates pollen. I bet it would store longer for a year, But the main problem is it just becomes wet like a moisture sponge.
Other thing, after reading through that article, it was linked, as I don’t like to let the flower sacks and petals get into the pollen. The flower sacks seem to release moisture, even if you dry them well. They seem to get brown and nasty causing the rest of the pollen to go bad. I would humbly suggest shaking the flowers as they open. You find one or to open early, and like 90% of the rest of them open a couple days later. That’s the best time to collect it. Just hold up the glass jar , and shake away. It’s like literally throwing flour in the air. A good male will make your whole garage or tent look like somebody had a yellow flour party in there. They release incredible amounts of pollen. To the point you may need to hose down your area or your next female crops will be seeded even if you don’t want them to be .
Personally, I just keep Bansai clones of good males now. It’s easier than storing pollen in my humble opinion. And I like small males so I don’t have such a male storm of pollen dust up on the light bars, rafters, and tent poles. I just put them up on a milk crate so they are above the girls when they do their thing.
I store pollen in my freezer, it’s cut with 25% corn starch. I used several vials because once you pull it from the freezer and let it get to room temperature there’s no going back. I let the pollen rest for several hours to dry before freezing
Nice dual use of the trim bin. Love it, and splitting the sample. Brilliant.
It needed a big cleaning before and after . I ended up with 7 vials before I called it quits.
Yep this is my place after letting pollen fly. That’s why I do it in the winter to not fu*# up others outdoor crops.
Holy , looks like a scene from Scarface
That’s a male plant
