Just a little about my grow space. I have a 10’ x 5’ room with two 20 gal totes to grow in and a 13 gal reservoir to hold water, a 400 gal/hr. water pump, a water chiller, 3 air pumps, and two 24” x 24” QB lights and plenty of circulating fans. For exhaust, I have 2 intakes and 2 exhaust outlets. I have a 6” exhaust fan and filter on one outlet and another 4” exhaust fan and filter hooked up to the other outlet should I need it. I had a few minor problems with my first hydro grow. First, the setup did not have enough water volume for my reservoir to keep things steady….(I think). And it’s still gonna be a problem… lol (but manageable.) I decided to keep the same res because it fits my space. I’ll just have to add about 4 gal of water every other day during the peak of the growth. Second, I had a problem one time with roots growing into the pump through my hoses. I’m hoping to have illuminated that problem by installing a drain filter on the ¾” outlet and a stainless steel grease splatter screen in front of the ¾” outlet. I made it so where I can easily take it out and clean it if necessary. [IMG_2127] [IMG_2132] Third, was getting inside the totes to clear the roots from the outlet when the scrog was setup. I’ve attached the scrog to the top of the totes so the whole plant will raise up and down with the lid and the scrog at the same time in case I need to get inside. [IMG_2128] [IMG_2131] I also moved the air pumps closer to have shorter hoses running to the totes. I started to get a bigger air pump but I think these are working ok…. till they don’t, then I’ll go bigger…lol Another issue was pulling the heat out of the room. I moved my exhaust fan filter right above the lights. [IMG_2129] I’ll be setting up a reflextics curtain so I don’t lose lighting on the front side of the plants. Hopefully that’ll help with pulling the heat out as well. I was also able to even the pipes and totes with some minor adjustment. And now the grow begins! I soaked 2 seeds in water and peroxide, then paper towel and then pete plugs. Both had good tails. I put the seeds in tails down in the pete plug. Tails grew up, instead of down…. The tail literally came out of the plug. Tried to flip but neither one made it. I thought I was gonna have to go back to propagation school because the next 2 seeds did the same thing. I was able to flip both right side up, but only one made it (SD). The other died. So now I have a SD in a net pot under the dome and on the heat matt and a PH in a pete plug hoping its gonna germinate and make it. If the other PH seed doesn’t make it, then I’ll have to do a bigger scrog…awwww! poor me…lol Right now, I have it set up to scrog both plants each on a 28" x 36" wire scrog. BTW HLG 350R $549. Growcraft x2 330 $499. Growcraft x3 330 w/code $550. :v::+1:t2::sunglasses:

I’m really digging the growcraft lights. If we’re me I would probably get the x3 330 over x2 for added efficiency and coverage. Hlg-350r is about right there too. I don’t think you could go wrong either way. Fwiw, you could probably find discount code for hlg light too.

Also I plugged that 950 pump in yesterday and all I could literally say was oh hell yes!

@dbrn32 ok, so I’m thinking about the possibility of two plants at two different heights, hence, considering 2 of the hlg 135 rspec or 2 of the growcraft x3 mini’s Out of the options talked about above and here, would the room temps be higher with the two drivers vs one of the bigger lights? Also, would trying to run one light with two plants at different heights cause an issue? Or, would I be better off with the two lights? What say your advise?? Thanks! :v::sunglasses:

Well, two 135 kits is going to be about the same price as one x3 mini. So I would think spending double on two of the x3 mini’s wouldn’t be as attractive. But it’s quite a bit bigger than 135 kit, so spend more to get more is okay as long as that is the decision you’re making. More watts in the tent is going to bring more heat. If all is equal i don’t really see two drivers being much different than one. The difference would come from the additional power. How badly to you want multi fixture capabilities? If this is a top priority, then you have to make the decision to drop light output and save some money, or things will get a little spendy. To naked eye the 135 kits look like you end up similar to 350r. But 350r is roughly 900 umols/s and a 135 kit is roughly 300 umols/s. In reality its about 3 135 kits to equal output of 350r or x3 330. Which would still be less than two x3 mini’s, but also more power in the tent due to lower efficiency. Two 135 kits may provide you with good enough results too. I just wanted to provide you with fair comparison of how each stacks up.

Ok, so I’m reading the two x3 mini’s would be the best choice? But more heat?

It would be the most light out of options that have been tossing around here. But yes, also more heat.

Thank you so much for your time and help!! :+1:t2:

Could maybe look at building, im guessing coat of led stuff is probably up too though.

All ears here brother. Always looking for the latest and greatest. Basically I’ll have two plants with a foot print of about 2.5’ x 3’ each. Of corse my goal is to run two plants at the same height, but we know how that can work sometimes. So my thinking is if they don’t, then I’m gonna need two separate lights. Would love to hear your thoughts on a build. Thanks again. Gonna be a min before I get things going again.
