Depression + Cannabis

Can cannabis be used to combat depression? If so, which strains are recommended for this purpose?

Thanks

Yes it is very good. I’m on my third grow since my wife started using it for severe anxiety. Durban Poison And critical purple was my first for her and she loved it. I used the descriptions for use in the seeds section to make my decision on what to grow for her. My second grow was gelato, critical purple, silver haze and gold leaf. My current grow is Girl Scout extreme, gold leaf and Kandy Kush.

I suffer major depression and anxiety at one point in my life and weed helped quite a bit, especially with sleep. Be careful with the sativa. They can pick you up, but too much may raise your anxiety levels.

I like big bud and cheese when im depressed. Cheese keeps me mellow but allows me to get stuff done. Big bud gives me a great nights sleep. Especially if i let the big bud trichomes amber out a little extra.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to get seeds?

YES! Where do I starttt! I have fibromyalgia, clinical depression and anxiety. I have been using marijuana for the past eight years and it’s safe to say getting off opioids was the best decision I ever made.

I experienced major depression since 2013 and have found that CBD has been helpful, especially in getting a good night’s sleep. THC helps me get to sleep and CBD has helped me to stay asleep. I found myself getting better quality sleep and not having to sleep 12 hours a day to get what I needed.

Steer clear of amplification highs when your depressed but I found the energetic fun high from zkittles to be a great combatant but truthfully the hobby of growing marijuana is more therapeutic then smoking

Absolutely yes. I have been using my cannabis edibles for almost 2 years now and it has brought me great relief from my anxiety and depression. Cannabinoids present in cannabis are known to help immensely with major mental health problems. From what I have learned from this article (bit.ly/3pNXEEb) and others, and from what I have personally experienced: cannabis is the answer to depression and other mental health problems

Psilocybin is an additional treatment for depression. I microdose psilocybin and stopped my depression meds shortly after starting. A number of researchers are publishing research on the topic.

There is a psilocybin thread here that contains links to researchers such as Roland Griffiths and Robin Carhart-Harris. Michael Pollan wrote a book titled ‘How to Change Your Mind’ that is pretty good and depression and psilocybin is discussed in the book.
