Deficiency or light burn or transplant shock?

48”x48”x80” tent. Banana kush and purple haze fem seeds from ILGM. Soil grow in 5gal cloth pots. I have been pH-ing water in the mid-6 range. (2) BESTVA DC 1500W light on 18-6 schedule. Ventilation is set to keep it at 60% RH. Oscillating fan constantly on. 74-77 degrees during the day. 68-70 degrees at night.
Started germination 4/7/2020
Put seed in soil 4/9/2020
Today/posted on is 4/24/2020

I didn’t want to transplant so early but I had root growth out of the sides and bottom. Transplant was done on 4/17/2020 (one week ago). I gave very low dose of nutrients for the first time yesterday 4/23/2020. CalMag, gro, bloom, and micro. I also raised lights to 35” above soil level in case it was light burn.

Am I overthinking this or do you guys and girls see an issue with these plants as well? It appears to me there is some discoloring on the edge of the leaves. Purple stems on some plants. And some leaf deformities (almost wavy leaves?) on some plants. In case there is a problem, I just wanted to tackle it before it’s too late. Thank you!

it is hard to tell under that light, but I don’t see anything at the moment that would bother me much. Really need a pic in natural white light to be sure.

Looks fine to me too. What soil are you in?

Okay thanks, here’s a picture. I mixed the organic soil on the right to miracle gro on the left at 12:5 ratio. I know it’s not as good as Fox Farm and some others, but all I had access too during this quarantine.

Okay. You definitely don’t need to be feeding them. I would get it out of the miracle grow as soon as you can.

Typically we avoid Miracle gro because it has timed released nutrients which can be an issue.
I don’t do soil at all and prefer Pro-Mix HP CC which is peat and coco with a bunch of other stuff.

Yeah I will be using different soil for sure next time, I tried to “dilute” the miracle grow, that’s why I mixed it, with way more of the other soil. But this is the best I could find at the store during this time.

I expect you see wavy leaves due to pH issues caused by the miracle grow. It may be okay for a while, but most folks in MG eventually see problems.

Dang… hopefully these are still salvageable, they’re already in their final pot
Here’s a picture in natural light. This is the plant in worst shape out of the 9 plants I have.

Looks twisty from too much nitrogen, but nothing to be worried about.

Now that I don’t know where the roots are and they’re in their final pot… Do any of you now if I’m still able to change the soil? Idk how I’d do it without exposing the roots and killing the plants… never had to do it before. Or should I just ride it out?

No coco. Peat, perlite, mycorrhizai. The HP is ‘High Porosity’ which accounts for the perlite.

Strongly suggest you repot into appropriate soil. Miracle Gro (as stated) contains harsh fertilizers and is not PH-buffered to be in the correct range for cannabis. This means that in addition to dealing with nute burn you will have multiple nutrient lockouts causing deficiencies as well. Fox Farms, Scotts, Roots Organics all offer cannabis-optimized grow media.

100% guarantee there will be many issues.

I’m a bit confused.

HP CC is High Porosity and has added Coco shreds. Are you saying no coco to me or a suggestion not to use it?

Ah, different product. Mine is straight HP: no coco at all.

Ah now I get it.
I just started using it so nothing to report on it other than it seems to be just as good. It can cost a bit more, but I got it at the same price to dove on it. So far all is working out well with it.

Did you end up repotting

Everyone, thanks for the advice. I ended up repotting last night. I went with FFOF with a little bit of additional perlite. I also added some Great White Mycorrhizae. Watered with pH 6.35 water. Hoping they make a good recovery
