Deez plants to get you high

The biggest thing about lighting autos is hittin DLI. If ur lights hit the requirement in 12 hours (normally this is why you see people crank light intensity) then ur good.

Should not be an issue, I can light bleach the hell out of my plants if I want to do with this set up

Its a great question, and one I’m not really sure there’s a firm answer to… I’ve grown both ways with the same strain (Gelato Auto from ILGM) and got a slightly better yield with the 12/12 (I ran that as I was growing a photo that run in the same tent).

That said, Auto’s tend to vary a lot anyway and there were other changes I made (went from Happy Frog soil to Coco in Autopots).

THAT said, I don’t think there is much difference if you dial in DLI to your schedule and I personally wouldn’t run “more” than 18 as they definitely do appreciate a dark period.

Personally - I’d run 12/12 for flower indoors if you can as that’s what the primary genetics are built for.

The ruderalis genetics they are crossed with will make them flower regardless, but that doesn’t mean they love it…

Last auto I ran in the same tent as a photo and it gave me some flexibility since I knew it was going to do what it wanted and I could cater the lights to when I wanted the photo to go into flowering. I knew the auto wasn’t going to care so I just let it do its thing. It did start flowering while still at 18/6 but then got 12/12 somewhere around 2 weeks into it / for the remainder of the run.

Much more encompassing right up :point_up_2:t5:

Well stated @CygnusX1

Yes thank you for this awesome post.

I am on the Same wave length man. Your experience with the gelato strain and your mixed auto/photo growing up experience is precisely what I’m running up against and trying to plan for.

Mostly I’ve got the good problem of trying to decide how many plants to flower in addition to the three autos.

Gonna be time to fire up the ez-cloner soon

Yeah, I chose to run the auto in the same tent because of the flexibility. It was my last run with the Sick’O’Berry on the other side. Those were regs so I had to sex them before transplanting, etc, etc… So the auto didn’t really care and I was able to cater the grow to the SOB plant. It was nice to have that flexibility.

While I could have kept another plant in check, it was nice not really worrying about the Auto and getting a slightly earlier harvest from it (which actually worked out really well because the SOB wanted more tent space before late flower anyway)…

It’ll probably be a bit before I run another auto, but they have their place. I have more of the Gelato seeds as well as a few G-13 Auto seeds hanging around. Very interested to try the G-13 but that will probably be a few grows away still.

Welp g13 is two out of the three autos I’ve got going. Agree completely that autos have their place. I actually feel like that place is outdoors. I’m really only backing in to growing these autos indoors as a consequence of some frantic seed sprouting a few weeks ago.

Yes, I’m keeping an eye on this grow for sure.
I thought about throwing a few Autos outdoors early sprint for an early harvest, but really just don’t think I want to deal with outdoor growing.

Absolutely loved the grow and end product. Very Sativa leaning so they were a bit of a handful through flower but well worth it. Also got some stunning purple coloring which was a nice touch. :sunglasses:

The buds smelled amazing even during dry before curing, never had a hint of grassy / hay smell at all. Wish I was set-up to clone that one.

My last run of Autos, ilgm Super Lemon Haze was flowered under 16/8 and was easily my best yielding Autos to date. Can’t really tell if it was the strain or that it was the only time I ever ran Autos under LEDs for a full 16 hours of lite there entire grow cycle. I pulled over 18-oz off 4 plants.
Edit to add that currently I am growing 2 autos under 12/12 since I flipped my light for the photos I am growing. I also really don’t care how well the yield is or how dense the flowers are because it is only personal use. I get real high off fluffy buds!

Havent tried autos indoor yet sir

@fast-grow I grew two banana Kush outdoors this summer one right next to the other, same everything and while both yielded very well one was just far and away huge. It’s one of the larger plants I’ve ever harvested and definitely the largest single cola I’ve ever had.

That cola screams Dong!

It’s a donkey D!ck that’s for sure. Total homewrecker. Problem was it was a crazy humid July and early august and I had bud rot (in fricken July!)

I also get the impression that Banana Kush isn’t terribly mold resistant.

Baha duly noted! No BK runs in my near future. Did you weigh that monstrosity?

I was only able to keep the very top of the cola intact as there was mold and I had to break it down to dry and store it

Here’s the biggest chunk off the top that I was able to keep together after drying.

Every time I read your name I hear the Steely Dan song in my head.

“ are you crazy, are you high? Are you just an ordinary guy?“
