Cutting main marijuana stalk

A question from a fellow grower:

I plan to cut the main stalk above the first branch and leave in the same soil and continue to cultivate. WILL This work ?
I plan to grind the cut stalk after removing buds & leaves. WILL this produce any beneficial use ??

It might re vegetate. I would like to see 3-4 nodes w/ leaves left if possible. This would give you a higher probability of succeeding. Good Luck!
