After drying and trimming my buds they feel much âcrispierâ than what I would like. I feel as if I may have left them in front of the fan (3hrs) a little too long after doing a bud wash! After the bud wash fan dry, they dried for 5 days in a well ventilated grow tent that was kept around 73 degrees and 50-60% humidity. Currently on day 4 of curing in Canning Jars at around 70 degrees and 60% humidity!
Is there any way of softening these buds back up??
Also feel free to post your own trimmed bud pics, id love to see them!!
You can put a piece of orange peel in the jar. You can also use a tiny damp, not wet, damp, piece of paper towel. The best thing to use? If you have any plants still growing with fan leaves, snip a couple of those. Itâs difficult to rehydrate the buds to liking, but you can get results this way.
Yep. If you have had it jarred for 3 days or more (I see you have), add the orange peel. You can add anything with moisture really - fan leaves off another plant, lemon peel, orange peel, a piece of lettuce, a slice of apple, a few crushed cloves of garlic (donât do this, it makes the bud smell amazing but the smoke is harsh AF).
@Borderryan22@Graysin Thanks for the tips, ill give it a shot and report back! Will I risk adding too much moisture in the jars though if the humidity is already at 60%?
Yes, but thatâs why youâll want to burp the jars periodically to allow for fresh air exchange. Remove the peel or whatever youâve added after your buds feel appropriately rehydrated - unless your RH skyrockets, it should be just fine.
I absolutely do. I had nothing else handy at the time. Once the RH balanced out, the garlic came out and it has smoothed back out to be a good smoke, but man did it increase the harshness while the garlic was still in there.
If you get them back in the range you want you could drop some Boveda packs in. If you add a little too much moisture back in theyâll help with that too. They add or take away a little moisture to keep you at 62% (or 58% depending on which ones you get). If you use them try to keep them from touching your bud. Iâm not a big fan of them for other reasons, but they definitely do control RH.
60% sounds perfect to me. Why mess with it. Also, mini hygrometers are not the most accurate instrument. When I line up 10 of them, maybe 2-3 will have the same reading.
