Crazy question: Just let my plant die to dry them

Got a strange question that popped into my head.

There is a good chance my photoperiod in the tent will be ready for harvest in late August when we happen to also be out of town on vacation for 7 days.

I am not excited about having someone coming in to water them one time mid-week while we are gone.

So… Are there any significant negative effects to the quality of my weed if I don’t have it watered and I just then come home instead to a dried out and possibly dead plant that I was going to harvest then anyway??

Idk how true it is but when I was younger I was told that if a plant dies with its roots in the ground it would make the smoke poopy!

So I am actually curious on this as well so I’m setting to watch hope you don’t mind!

Just soak them and go. Have vacationed and just watered the tar out of them first. Will be fine I am sure.

Weed that “dies on the vine” is nasty, harsh and bitter.

We will be gone 11 - 12 days and had to figure something out. The plants are 6 weeks into 12/12, in coco and only 2 gallon pots. They would be bone dry in two days. I just set up an S-Plant watering system. Nothing fancy. It worked on a trial basis. I will have it run for 3 minutes every 4 hours. I am trying to give each of the 4 plants around 2.3 liters a day.

@beardless

How would you water a large photoperiod like mine in a 10 gallon grow bag with that waterer?

I assume in the center but how deep, how much and how often?

Maybe try this out. It’s a lot cheaper but it worked for me when I went out of town. @VirginiaGrowBoy

What he said and turn down the light intensity (less cooking), my recommendation.
Nobody watches your children the way you do. Sad lesson to learn.

You will need to do a dry run to see what settings work. With that size pot I would use 3 or 4 drippers. I used 2 each in the little 2 gallon pots. I didn’t want to create runoff so I water less at a time but more often.

The water comes out near the top of the dripper so I don’t think depth is very important. I have the ones in back raised so I can see that water does in fact come out.

Agree with @Storm. Soak it good seeing as you only have a week and will harvest when you get back :love_you_gesture:

Start over-watering little by little. Then use one of those glass bulbs, also.
