Came home yesterday to 2 of my plants not doing good. 1 was growing good vertically but still had the seed on it then all of sudden just fell over. The other was growing great then it just curled up on me…I did water it and feed it superthrive. Don’t know if I overdid it or not. Pics included
I know the second pic is hard to see but it’s a seedling laying down with the seed shell still attached
I would definitely dome them right now to get the humidity up, and then take it from there.
Not 100% sure! I’m a new grower, I planted 2 Northern Light/Shiva and 1 is thriving and doing well, #2 isnt doing so well, when the seedling popped above soil, it lost a cotyldon leave, and it’s been deformed since.
#1 plant, doing well
#2 plant, only 1 cotyldon leaf, deformed growth
Last 3 pictures are of the same #2 plant. Is it worth keeping?
You have to be really careful with watering seedlings, especially when they’re brand new like that. They have no root system yet to take up water, but the leaves can absorb moisture from the air. That’s why you want high humidity for seedlings, and why many people end up overwatering them. Also, what kind of soil are they in? You have to be careful about feeding them. They don’t need any fertilizer at this stage.
Yes @JDHewy, it’s worth keeping for sure. Those types of leaf deformities happen often. I’ve had some that kept some deformities all the way through, and others that grew out of it, but they all did ok in the end.
Have you used superthrive on cannabis before? I am not familiar with it.
Although roots haven’t grown to the bottom, do you have drainage holes in your cups?
Good chance over watered /dampening off. Dome seedling and punch some holes in side to get rid of excess moisture. cross your fingers
@beardless @Cap_Ron thanks fellas I just put wet baggies over them hopefully that’ll help them bounce back. I have drainage holes in my cups and I’m using promix bk25 which is low water retention
Too much water, at this stage I justmist the inside of a clear cup and dome it
VA, you growing indoors or out? If indoor you got a tent and lights ready?
@Zee I’m growing outdoors
I have nothing against dooming, but never tried it. 24 hours seed soak in tap water. Add 4 oz of water ph, to cup of soil, put seed in soil about 1/2" down with small tip of seed down, if possible. Cover seed lightly with soil, use a few sprays of water from bottle to get soil on seed slightly wet. Put in tent, under lights, no fan, no exhaust, come back 5 days later, you will have healthy seedlings. I have used this method with success. No dooms and very simple. Learned from Hellraiser.
From there, you don’t have to Doom or anything, just water again if cup feels empty and grow as you normally would.
I used Fox Farm Happy Frog soil, I didnt use any nutes until about 3 weeks in and i just used Cal-mag, grow big and distilled water, PH’d to 6.5. I transplanted out of solo styrofoam cup on sunday into a 1 gallon pot because my roots were starting to show through the bottom holes I had in cup. My root system seemed pretty healthy, from what I could see. This is my first grow. This site really helps me out! Next grow I do, I am definitely going to do the bag over seedling approach.
Thanks man! It is doing well for the most part, I may not get the yield out of the deformed plant as i will of the other one. These are what they look like today.
I had as many holes in the bottom of solo cup as I could get in there, I let it dry out to where the cup felt like it just had dry soil in it, that seemed to help bring her back to life. Still growing a day or 2 behind my #1 plant it seems but its definitely drinking water now cause I watered 2 days ago and it feels like it’s almost time to water again.
I use Cal-mag and I have the trio of Fox Farm nutes “grow big, big bloom and tiger bloom” Fox Farm Happy frog soil, 600watt Phlizon LED grow light and a 36"×20"×63" vivosun grow tent with 6inch inline fan and filter ventilation. 18/6 light cycle on a timer and I have the light 24" above top of plant
I think they look great. I don’t see any issues at all!
glad to hear it. they really are strong plants if you give them a chance. Check out My Amnesia Haze is now a chrysanthemum - #3 by beardless
