Cotyledons Turning Black on Tips. Support Ticket Inserted

Hey whats up guys Manny here. So I was checking on the ladies as I always do and noticed theres some dark green/blackish color on the tips of my new germed seeds (literally planted 4/29 and popped 3/2). The tips of the cotyledons are kinda eroding or something and not to sure why. Does anyone have any possible input on this?

Hi welcome!
What type of soil?

To me, they seem okay. I wouldn’t be too worried but keep an eye.

I wouldn’t suggest having any runoff with seedlings. Way too soon to be putting that amount of water on them. I say that because I noticed you had PH in and out.

All-in-all they look good though.

Like @Matthew420 said, you shouldn’t have run off at this point. You can drown them. Use a spray mister to wet the soil/medium around the sprout and cover with a humidity dome.

I’d just take a wait and see approach… give it a couple days. :+1::smiley:

Thanks for the welcome been here for a few months just lurking around everyones posts answering what I can but I appreciate the welcome again! lol
My soil is a organic compost from my buddies Top soil company (C&M Topsoil in Ca)

@Matthew420 Honestly I think so too but I would rather have another set of eyes just to make sure that I haven’t missed anything that can kill them on spot. I only have runoff because its 80% perlite literally all the water falls through I just have a top layer of soil so I could germ them in something thatll hold a bit better

@majicmarkers I usually spritz them with a spray bottle twice a day just enough to get the top moist, I use a water bottle that’s cut in half for a dome for now just took it off to see the plants. Will do though like I said id rather be safe then sorry later on.

Thank you guys for all the replies! Love how active everyone is on here and how everyone is willing to help out, makes me feel better about the grow and community! Thanks again all

Thanks brotha will do my man!

the cotyledons sucker leafs or water leafs As i like to call them have little bearing if the the true new leafs are healthy your sprout feeds off them for growth until it establishes a root system so they do die off naturally don’t pannic

I know and seen them turn yellow or brown and die off but I’ve never seen black. I’m not to worried I guess I was just wondering if anyone had seen this before. Thank you though @Donaldj I’m glad to be apart of such an informative community. You guys are the best!

Hey Manny, yes I have seen it few times on my sprouts, I was little concerned at first, but it went all good…
Dont remember which strain was it, it was too many strains germinating at one time.

Anyway, from the pic it looks exactly what I saw no worries brother

Now THAT, with the purple tips, is something I ish would happen to me! Lmao I’ve always wanted to get purps without having to force the purple by temperature but then again I’m still a new grower so who knows right. The new growth is healthy but I’ve found out I have a zinc deficiency so my plants are SUPER SMALL like 7 weeks old and 2-3" small. So I’ve gotta get some zinc supplement along with a few other things but for now all looks healthy otherwise.

Awesome alright then no worries here! I appreciate the support cause honestly I was a little worried at first :fearful: but you guys made me feel like everything’s gonna be alright! Haha thanks guys I appreciate ya!
