Has anyone tried to convert a shed into a grow room?
I have a 15 x 12 shed that has a cement floor and electricity. I would like to move my tents into this shed. (2x2 and 4x4) I live in Virginia so the environmental would be the main issue. I would need to get air flow in there, I believe I would cut out vents on 2 sides. Then I would also need A/C (looking at stand up units) and heaters, and humidifier. I think I would keep all equipment outside of the tent. So, I would be heating and cooling the whole shed. The big question is if it can keep the environment up for the hot summer and cool winters day. Any input is appreciated.
Mini split, would work best for that space, or window air conditioning, with oil filled radiator for heat. Heat recovery is going to be the biggest challenge in winter. Because air exchange to the outside.
Virginia doesn’t sound really cold, but insulation might be good to have too.
I grow in a shed, but I keep my tents in the house. In the shed I got large sheets of foam and covered them in mylar to make my grow space. I cut a hole for a small window a/c which keeps the humidity down. I also have 2 oscillating fans. During the winter I only need a small radiator heater.
My opinion is toss the tent, put in a window AC WITH Dehumidifier built in, HPS lights for heat, wall off part of shed with false wall and secret door, paint flat white.
Just my two cents as you have real potential but your tent days need to evolve toward what you could really achieve. Think bigger, hidden and something you can stand up in.

I thought about this too. The main issue is going to be controling temps. Most sheds ive been in are either way to hot or way to cold, depending on season. How big of a shed? I saw someone said something about a mini split. Thats a great solution if you can afford it
The shed is 12x15, I am adding a wall to make the grow space 12x4. The grow space will be 4x4 and 2x2 at the other end. Just picked up sheet rock. I plan on insulating. I figure a radiator oil based will work and a floor standing ac unit. Wish me luck.
Hello. I am also built a split in my 12x24 shed here in NY. I am in about 1200 in materials. A lot colder for a lot longer but with insulation and a little space heater in the tent you should have no problem. It was the mid 60s here today and the grow room was 84 with the heater on its lowest setting. Rh was about 40.
2inch foam on floor with osb on top
Insulated walls and ceiling and topped with silver ils board then tapped
Silver bubble wrap around lower wall.
I think keeping it cool here is going to be a problem without AC.
But then I will be outside so I hope this brought some insight for you.
