Compost tea inside wicking pots

Question so i use ACI wicking pots on Saturday i added some compost tea into it but my girls hasn’t sucked it up so i changed the water to fresh PH FILTER WATER was i moving to fast or did right

Teas will clog the lines and go bad if they sit for too long. You can actually introduce bad bacteria to your soil. Also, I noticed you were using NLS. On their website they have instructions on how to make their teas using their formula. I would personally only give teas from top and using wicking lines for water only.

Also make sure the plants are large enough to start drinking from the bottom. Leaves to edges of pots means roots should be deep enough

Thanks i figured that my girls are large enough to bottom feed

I made the mistake of top watering while using the ACI bases. I used them to buy some time between feeding, allowing me to travel for work.
My understanding is when you top feed, after bottom feeding. The salts get pushed to the root zone causing nute lock. I was half way through flowering when it happened. Then wasted another 6 weeks attempting to correct the problem. Waste of time. I’m sure this issue can be resolved. But I believe the timing was fatal in my case.
I’m using them for my current grow with awesome results. Just don’t top feed at all.
I believe @Graysin shed light on this for me

@Thesmellofcolitas if using synthetic nutes, yes I can see running into that problem of salt build up, and If I was using synthetic I would not top feed as well as bottom.

In this case, it is a living soil using water only and compost teas to feed the soil. There is not a lot of salts so I haven’t seen it being an issue.

I’m still new, but this is my understanding and research.

I just needed to know if i did right by cleaning it out and adding fresh water to pot

If you cleaned them out and added fresh lines then you should be good.

Water attracts water, so make sure your soak the lines first as it does help the pots start to take it up.

I’m in 3 gal pots with mine 1st full grow using NLS mix

My thought here too. The self-wicking lines get clogged bad with organics.

Absolutely my sentiment. I honestly feel this way whether organic or inorganic, largely because stuff moves. Capillary action is real (as evidenced by the wicking action of the ACI pots anyway). Whether adverse or not, I would avoid it because it’s an unnecessary variable in the Grow.

Another consideration you may want to think about is how compost teas are made. Most of the time, you see people running air lines into a bucket, pumping in bubbles of oxygen while the brew steeps. This is to encourage aerobic activity, aka, the good bacteria and fungus that develops symbiotically with the root zone. Stagnant compost tea turns into chemical sludge as oxygen is used up and anaerobic bacteria and fungus begin to predominate.

So i removed some of those big fans to let light in has anyone tried this method this early they are 2 weeks into veg

Oh for sure ! A little strategic defol isn’t an issue unless you overdo it. My rule is only remove leaves that absolutely must go and cannot be tucked somewhere else. In your case, I’d say that was a good move that will ultimately lead to more tops for sure. Just remember every leaf is a solar collector, and each one you remove slows the train down. Once a leaf reaches around 3-4 days in age, removing it results in a net decrease in energy of the plant for a few days.

Thanks i kust figure i will try to keep the middle open so those bottom stems can reach at this young age

She’s fixin to blow up with all those tops. In a week or two she’s gonna look totally different — big and bushy

I built this Airlift Compost Tea Brewer today speaking of aeration…
