So, I have a question and possibly a problem and it’s related to the Harvest so I thought I’d put it in here instead of The Grow area. Any input from you experts would be great, @blackthumbbetty, @Covertgrower, @MattyBear, @raustin, @dbrn32, @Myfriendis410. Sorry if I missed someone! I’ll fill out a form if it becomes necessary.
One of my plants is showing a few milky and amber trichomes on the frosty leaves near the bud. If I read correctly the leaves will show amber before the actual bud does, right? So with that I’m guessing it’s about ready to harvest but it’s got some weird yellowing of just a few leaves but I don’t think it’s far enough along to start showing the yellowing of the leaves that happens when it’s done flowering. It only a few leaves that look bad. The suspect in question is shown below.
On another note, OMG I can’t wait to try this frosty girl!
I had this happen to my plants. The pH dropped below the optimum. Seemed like the dark leaves were on the top where the light penetrated and green where the leaves were shaded. You should be OK but check your pH inputs and outputs.
It also should be noted I was pushing the P-K to higher levels and my PPMs were ~1400, but it definitely was pH. I added Morbloom 0-10-10 that has a very low pH and my DWC was running below 5. Did you use any organics in your mix?
So if it’s coming out at 6.3 and going in is higher then the PH in soil is lower. Not as far off as mine but still off. At 6 you will start to lock out nutrients. P and Ca
Then I guess I’m still too inexperienced. I thought that the 6.3 was a good thing. However, if it is coming out lower, than I see your point. How do I truly test the pH of the soil? That’s what I thought the “out” was.
It is… but for hydroponics.
It’s fine to use in soil, but you will have to adjust the pH up after you are done mixing everything.
Most people (myself included, the first time around) miss this in their documentation:
pH Perfect is such a potent technology that it can bring a pH of 8.7 down to 5.5 in a matter of seconds. Or, it can raise a low pH of 4.8 to 5.5 in the same time.
I’ve found that the pH drop is more significant when using distilled or reverse osmosis water, so now I mix in some tap water as well, and I don’t have to use as much pH Up afterward.
You can carefully take a 4 tbsp sample of soil from near the rootzone, mix that with an equal part pure r/o water, shake often as you let it sit for 12 hours, then measure the pH of the fluid.
