two clones transplanted to coco , turning yellow / light green new growth , one is thriving standing up strong besides that , other one slightly drooping , i did just transplant less than a week ago maybe they need time to adjust ?
Looks hungry. What and how often are you feeding?
Curious, how long, hiw many days have they been transplanted?
did an initial water when transplanted , checked weight of pots before i watered again few days after that , at first i was thinking i overwatered , this the first time doing clones in coco , so i was a bit hesitant on what to do , i know with my plants from seed i was told to water daily .
calmag , and GH flora trio , armor si , got some sensizyme as well i was using because i am reusing some coco i only used for one grow
just did it over the weekend so only a few days
If the leaves were yellowing as clones it would probably be from too much light. They really shouldn’t get more than ambient lighting or they’ll try to grow, and with no roots they cannibalize their leaves. for food, turning them yellow.
they were good until the transplant , i transplanted them because they were root bound wrapping around the medium , i have a dimmer on my light would you suggest turning it down ?
If it’s a lot more light than what they were used to, it would definitely have a stressful effect if the roots aren’t used to their new home yet, and can’t uptake what the plant is trying to make with all the light, but I’m a hydro guy, so there could be other nute/medium issues I’m unaware of. Just pointing out that light control is fairly crucial in establishing clones. If they were fine before, then it could just be nutes like others have pointed to.
Dudegrows did a nice demonstrative example of the effect of lighting on clones. The leaves near the light yellow, and furthest away are fine. (I’ve seen the same results)
appreciate the feedback!
As mentioned, clones need less light intensity for a few days.
Great news, clones are standing, thats great sign. They dont need to be watered every day, they dont have roots, they need moist coco,
And they can be moist for days with out water in most cases.
As for feeding, i start out with about 250 to 300 ppm.
I started one yesterday that came from flowering plant.
Will keep her on 1/4 strength nutes until i see new growth.
Yesterday, she layed down, today shes up, yhats a good sign.
appreciate you man , im gonna turn down light intensity and cut nute strength back, i’ll probably just do plain ph’d water next time i do water , they are good for a little while right now
These clones were cut 8 days before this pic. They’re 5 feet from the light. I thought they’d be far enough away, I was wrong. The yellowing is all from too much light. (I moved them afterwards, removed the yellowed leaves and they survived)
These clones took a solid 2 weeks to root and are now well established. I kept them above any tent lighting, and all they got was what reflected from the ceiling and sides. They look almost the same as when I cut them, only with new growth now. They still don’t have a light directly above them, just a 65w LED hanging on each side.
pH for coco/hydro is 5.5 tp 6.2, 5.8 is the happy zone for coco/hydro.
New growth, i like more nitrogen, nitrogen is for growth. Still target 250 to 300 ppm.
Your plan would determine the nutes to follow, an auto or photo.
these girls are from a photo blueberry muffin mom
How long are you vegging before you flip?
It seems to happen every time with me. I do the final cut under water, and I’ve taken to just leaving them in the water for a few hours. In that time, they lay over, then stand back up, then I remove them and do whatever I’m going to do with them. Seems less stressful… for them and me
gonna keep that in mind!
wanted to go for 4 weeks but might have to push a little longer if they don’t bounce back soon
I never water the stem. I water at least 1 inch away or 2 and move away from the plant as i water around. Makes the plants roots search out moisture. Promotes growth.
A pot of coco dry, remember that brick of coco and how much it weighed? Like a loaf of bread.
Your pot can weigh that light before watering and is okay for now.
perfect thanks a lot for the watering tip! , i turned the light intensity down and raised the lights a little higher @Mosca
