Ahh. I don’t see those guys around much. Country boy, hogmaster and latewood garrigan spend time over here, but seems they are more and more in the lab.

I have heard powdered vitamin c will remove chloramine.

looking into this chloramine topic and came across this aging thread. excuse the bump.

have found some great links if anyone is interested. Seems like some of the de-chloramination methods out there are anecdotal. I emailed a brew expert about an article he posted in hopes that he will elaborate on some of the methods outlined here:

specifically the acidification, where he notes that HCl acid could be introduced allowing the chloramines to dissipate. I also read in another article that humic acid could achieve this too. obv you would need to bring up the pH after the fact or watch your plants sizzle and foam (in a bad way)

Alternatively, apparently you can let the water stand out to dechloraminate… but the half-life of the molecule is such that it would take 45 days to achieve this.

Even better - catch your rainwater. I’m looking into barrels now.

also @Watt-Sun - i couldnt believe it when i measured our tap water here @ 15ppm with no filtration or treatment off the line!
