Hey guys, about to chop the baby in about a week, current light cycle is 18/6. Should I change to 12/12 or stay 18/6 in order to maximize yield ?
It wont matter that much at this point
@Zagbah1995 i agree with @Medicineman33 if you’re chopping next week it won’t matter if you change your light schedule. I would suggest you flush your plants though. Some people do water for the last week to wash away build up.
I always stay on the same schedule til the end. Agree that it’s too late to make a difference. Things like flushing, 48 hours of darkness and shocking with cold water are all just matters of preference. It’s debatable whether any of them have any effect. All the hard work for the previous 3-4 months is what gets you good results.
Thanks everyone! Yea im typically do 2 weeks of flush before harvest ![]()
To each their own with the flush. I would do it! I like to run straight water for the last week+. Bro science or not I have experienced the rewords for many many years.
Flushing is definitely bro science and the actual scientific studies done in blund taste tests, the unflushed product alwsys wins hands down.
Hercules is the true creator and all other beliefs are false because I read it in a book or on the internet ![]()
You’re missing the part where this is actually testable unlike the claims of Hercules..
That’s the difference between “bro science” and “real science”.
Claims of Hercules are unfalsifiable , the claims of flushing before harvest effecting the end product is falsifiable as it can and has been tested.
New Research Shows Flushing Plants Before Harvest May Be Unnecessary | High Times.
Great! Tell us your findings of what you found. What were the intricacies and differences between the flush and unflushed? Inquiring minds want to know.
These are not my findings as I’m not capable of a proper scientific study myself.
I linked 2 sources so far but it’s an easy Google search to find several blind taste tests that others have done and the unflushed smoke always wins.
That last line is a link, idk why its not showing as such but tao it and lmk if it doesn’t open and I’ll try again.
But honestly man, a Google search will yeild lots if results
Dr Bruce Bugbee has even spoken about this as well as other reputable sources..
Why not? I have. Try it and report your findings.
Happy birthday btw
I trust the findings of these people way smarter then me that follow strict procedures that would be hard for me.
But how was your study done and what was yours findings? After all the burden of proof is on tje one making the claim.
The claim is “flushing before harvest is beneficial”, I’m simply unconvinced
from what I’ve seen from the most recent unbiased “aka blind” studies, the data suggests otherwise with people preferring the unflushed smoke overwhelmingly more then the flushed smoke.
Not to mention people like Bruce Bugbee explaining how some of the claims is not even scientifically possible, it just simply not mechanically possible to remove the building blocks once the plant has used them..
Thank you for the birthday wishes ![]()
Did you observe them following strict procedures or is that what they told you? People trust religious leaders and politicians because they’re “way smarter” than them
I didn’t make any claim you made a claim that flushing is bro science
Name names. People is a vague term. I’m purposely being obtuse to show you how unscientific what you’re talking about is

Still on going and never ending and is based on my actual observations not someone else’s. Both sides can be right it doesn’t have to be black and white
Dr Bugbee was recruited by NASA in the 70s to study growing food in space.

I really don’t know how to respond to all that other then.
I trust these other people’s finding that come from “controlled” studies that take great measures to eliminate biases.
Data from a study that dosen’t follow the scientific method is of little to no value.
And while I would agree that both can produce amazing product.
They both cannot be correct. Flushing before harvest either does something beneficial or it doesn’t.
And the science suggests that it doesn’t, so I believe it.
Epistemology is the issue here and with religious people believing what they are told or believe what they think they have observed. But if one actually investigates and takes measures to eliminate bias, they would be a completely different conclusions
This video is a little long but its full of good information, the data about flushing is at around the 18:50 mark.
Sorry man I forgot an actual blind taste test data source.
This is the conclusions from a controlled study done by RX Green Technologies.
You can look them up and read the entire study if you want.
@1HappyPappy @Bluntsmoke
Sorry fellas. Just gonna play devils advocate here for a min. ![]()
The above linked blind taste test ![]()
was done by a nutrient company.
They kinda stand to lose a bit of $$ if everybody stopped using nutes for the last 2 weeks right.
.
Just thought I’d mention that part.
Follow the $$$. Do your own tests to see if it makes a difference.
Do one with a 2 week water only and one fed till the end.
For me I’ll continue to do water only last week or 2. Just my preference.
What works for one may not work for all. ![]()
Enjoy ur weekend fellas.

If you read the study, their samples where tested by a 3rd party.
They did conduct the test but used 3rd party to process the data both in laboratory and with the “blind taste test”.
Testing is absolutely useless if the scientific method isn’t followed and while I’ll agree data is manipulated for profit alot! This isn’t the only study, and they appear to have took measures eliminate bias. This is supported by the fact that there are many other studies from different feilds and they all seem to have the same conclusion ![]()
They all say it doesn’t necessarily hurt but it doesn’t help.
Dr Bruce Bugbee talks about how they can create a situation where flushing helps by giving to much nutrients to begin with and then flushing does have a beneficial effect…
Maybe this is what’s happening
.
I can provide another taste test study if necessary but honestly, anyone that really cares about what the most recent studies suggest can just Google it.
