Canadian smoke polution

I am wondering out loud here: Does all this smoke from forest fires in Canada along the US east coast have an effect on growing my weed?
Besides blocking out some sun is there anything else that it might effect?

I think that @Cannabian grew during a nearby-ish fire a year or two ago.

It’s gotta do something, I think, it would be hard to convince me it doesnt. Nothing scientific to add but I’d say if you can see and smell it the plants can too. Hopefully a positive effect

Night time temps have dropped into the upper 40’s 3 times also, so it might be hard to tell what the smoke is doing, keeping my fingers crossed since this will be my only planting this year.

yikes 40s yeah me too, six plants out now but checking today I seen green and perky, so worry is leaving me.
I could imagine two effects, one is less light making a stretchy plant, the other is higher carbon dioxide in the air which might give the plant more sugar production and energy.

Yeah it did have some wierd side effects on plants, not just cannabis. The air and rain is pretty acidic and may contain some nasties in it so wash all yer buds. The plants will not get the UV they normally get because of the filtration. The smoke can tend to lock heat into the air over night as well. Then we have some insects that seemed to go bat shit crazy, mainly aphids and grasshoppers.

Thanks @Cannabian , I will keep an eye on them and hopefully they produce this year.

We have an abundance of Praying Mantis so the aphids don’t bother me, have not had Grasshopper trouble ever but will look out for them, if I see them I will net my plants. Thanks for the info.

Im sure the bugs are area specific. I live by a large field in heavily forested mountains in BC.

I am surrounded by farm fields, so bugs are there.
