Can u trim your autoflowers during flower??
What do you mean by “trim?”
Edit: And why do you want to do this?
Leaves are basically the only part of the plants that engage in photosynthesis. Removing them (defoliation) is counterproductive.
Flowers don’t grow because you get them light. They might benefit in other ways from light, but I’d focus on yields. And yields are drive by light into leaves.
Ahh i see. An yea thats why i was unsure of taking some off. Thank youbtho for info
Your plants look good, BTW. Let them do their thing.
If you try photoperiod plants out next time, you get to play around with pruning during the vegetative stage. It can be really satisfying to shape your plants.
I leave my Autos alone. Now my Photos I will defoliate here and there. But even then I tend to let them do their own thing as well.
I do defoliation of my autos. You have to not go crazy, logic it out which to remove for light and air movement.
I top, trim, thin and train autos. Look around and you will see some really nice buds on plants that have been “lollypop’d” where they are stripped to just below the bottom of the buds. Looks like a bare stem with a big 'ol bud stuck on top.
I mainly defoliate to help with air flow.
This was my first auto grow and I did some lst, defoliation, and lollipopped the 2nd week of flowering. The plant looked nice, but I regret taking off the leaves.
My amnesia has ate most of her leaves and she probably still has 3 weeks to go. Wish I would’ve left her more leaves, she would’ve had a better “nitrogen” reserve, I think.
I have 5 GG autos going all between 7-8weeks from sprout (roughly 4 weeks in flower) I have topped and fimmed all but 2 which I left completely untouched and I have lst’d and spread out all of them. I think they all look great, one is being temperamental, one can barely support the buds and one is 7 weeks old and just starting to flower(which is the solo one)20210506_221623|666x500
And I’ve defol’d em pretty good towards the bottom
I have gold leaf fem coming what’s the differences between feminised an photoperiod besides The cancel of the male sex part
@JamJam What defold em mean like tucking??? An deff brother u kno my plant that is bushy is the one I LST n the other jus did its own thing I was like kinda backwards but yea @KeystoneCops I’m going let my girls do their thing it is how nature intended… But thank u for the info much obliged.
Feminized seed is 99.99% guaranteed to produce a female plant (Nature finds a way. - M. Crichton). The opposite of feminized seed is “Regular seed,” which is statistically a mix of about 50/50 male and female.
An autoflower can be feminized. It seems like most of the market is feminized seed, whether you’re buying photoperiod seeds, autoflowers, or CBD hemp. ILGM only sells feminized seeds, at this time, as far as I know.
Weeks into flower you’re going to see fan leaves start to yellow and dry from the bottom of the plant up. This is normal. It’s the plant pulling nutrients out of the leaves to fuel flower production. I let them alone until they fall off, but my space doesn’t have pest issues.
Sort out your optics situation now, if you haven’t already. You want a jeweler’s loop, macro kit for a phone, or microscope. You’re going to determine ripeness by looking at the glandular trichomes.
Some lessons you have to learn through experience.
Dont let anyone talk u down on defols. It domt harm plants like ppl think and say it might slow down a small touch but it dont affect the bud unless u takebit too drastic. I always defol my plants and i jave neve had a problem. Seem to be of equal qualoty to plants i dont touch. Doong defols helps the plants alpt and if u catch ot at a right time u dont even get a slowdown really. Im sure that atleast 70/ of ppl on here do defols without problems
Yea I know about the leaves dying during flower l, but yea this grow I’m letting these lady’s do their own thing… I do have a handheld digital microscope I have 2 other smaller 1 called the Carson handheld n another that’s jus a scope n light works great all do…but thank u @KeystoneCops
