I red online that pillow cases are good. I sell on eBay so I have several tall narrow boxes. I thought I would wrap the boxes in saran and then put the pillowcases in them and repot to that. The boxes are about 2.5’ deep and like 7x7.
You know the cloth shopping bags everyone has laying around? Or you can use untreated burlap cloth. Or two xxlarge old shirts. Dbl em up. Tie off the neck and arms.
I am always broke. (I live in a cave with my precious) I use them. Just wash em on gental first. Or just go with raised beds if possible. With a lil imagination ypu can save a lot of $$ . Or lose some. Its a learning curve at times. Milk crates! And landscapers cloth lined. In it works also!
Heck yeah. I was about to make some out if the landscaper stuff cause I already have some here. Then I read about the pillow cases and seemed like that’d be a good idea. Next time I will be so much better prepared. Trial and error, I suppose. Honestly, I’m amazed that they are still even alive and kicking. They sure do have some kind of will power.
@ShureGreen they are very strog plants my friend happy growing
5gal vs 25 gal … ive always grown in 5 gallon bags. Giving these 25gal a go… going from 12 plants to 4 ![]()

Thanks Reed71. I know I sure did bur. The heck out if them when they were young. That along with only checking the pH of the Soil, cause nobody told me otherwise, I too am shocked that they’ve gotten this far along.
Chitty Chitty, I don’t understand ehat it is that you’ve got going on there Dude?
@ShureGreen im used to growing in 5 gallon bags. Ive been growing 10 plants at a time. My next project, ive cooked 100 gallons of supersoil and filling up 25gal bags halfway and filling the rest with recycled soil. Im cutting my grows in half…
Here are the photos of their light burn for those that may be interested in exactly what that looks like. Within a month after these were taken, I had pulled the light up and lowered its intensity and also started checking the pH of my water prior to feeding and using the phUP or Down, they are doing great even if they are super small, ie stunted.
Oh Chitty. I see your photos now. Wasn’t seeing but one before. Ooops!
So those on top are 5 gallon bags and the bottom 25 gallon? Did you have more than 1 plant in each of the 5 gallon bags?
I see you do have multiples growing together. Are they all the same strain excetera? Any issues with root binding or lessor quality product?
Just one plant per pot. I have 2 different runs ( flower) going on right now in the flower room. Its all 12/12. I could throw autos in there if i wanted. Ive never had any root binding issue. Im strictly organic.
Ihy Chitty. They sure are lovely. I can only hope that my next time they will look half as nice. How tall are they rn? Maybe I am expecting mine to be 9 feet tall and they just don’t?
Hi Guys. Thought I’d show you what I wound up doing. I lined 6-20 x 12 x 12" boxes with a new pillow case and put each into one of the 10gal bags and then pulled them up and tied them tight. It’s been 2 or 3 days now, I been sick so am not sure, but they seem to have taken well to being moved. Last time I get to see those roots, but let me tell you that they Tripled in sized just since the previous watering less than a week prior. So anyways, here they are. Small but healthy
I would Also like to add that they are now in their 13th week since I put the seeds into water on 4/6. What should happen now? When do I just go ahead go ahead and lower the hours of light? And when I do that, do I also lower the intensity? Raise it? Currently I been doing 18on 6off at now 75% and average 26" from tops. My packages said like 9’ they would grow to, but I see so many pics from others that are flipping with plants that are much more full than mine but really aren’t much taller. I am watering about 1.5gals each every 5-7days. Haven’t fed sunce the repotting on the 8th, I think it was.
I guess just wondering, what now? Ready to move on to grow #2 and maybe have better outcomes. Thanks.
These only got an average of 3 feet. As far as your plants, thats up to you. If you flip them (swap light cycle) to 12/12 then you should expect for them to double even triple in size.
I didn’t mean yours, Chitty. I been all over this site and others and have yet to see any taller than a few feet. I’m just not sure if mine will grow a whole lot more seeing as they’re already 13 weeks in. See what I mean?
Also, I mean to say 20gal bags. Trying to figure out how to edit my post with no luck.
And also, when I do decide to let them Flower what do I do with my light besides changing their day/night hours? It’s currently at 75% and about 30" from their tops. I can keep them vegetating indefinitely and they will continue to grow, correct? Please and thank you?
