Good morning! I have one girl that is acquiring some brown spots on a few of her leaves. I have 5 other plants and they all look happy and healthy, but growing in the exact same conditions.
My guess would be a calcium deficiency in this one, but I thought I would ask for the opinion of more experienced growers before I attempt to add cal mag.
She is growing in a combo of FFOC and FFHF - they were transplanted into their 5 gallon pots a week ago, so the soil still has plenty of nutes.
The temperature is about 78-79 Fahrenheit during the day, 68 at night. Humidity is on average 73%, VPD is on average 0.8 and the PPFD is between 425-475.
I Ph 6.3-6.8 every time I water. All the plants have been receiving the same water every time and they are gorgeous. So, maybe this girl is just a little different?
Thanks so much!! I will do just that.
I haven’t been watering to runoff just yet since the roots haven’t spread out into the majority of the new grow medium. The next time I water I will try to do that with this one though.
Two of the leaves in the picture were at the top of the canopy.I do see how the one where its tip is touching the soil would give that impression. I have tried to be diligent about not letting any leaves rest on the soil, especially if damp. If it appears too early for calcium deficiency, could it also be that some water splashed on the leaves the last time I watered?
That’s a possibility. If that’s the only leaves that look like this I wouldn’t worry. Cannabis plants will get blemishes here and there along the way. Well done on being concerned up front and keep an eye on the new growth
Thanks! This is my first grow, so I am super sensitive to everything I do. Haha. It’s been a rather rewarding learning experience and this community has taught me so incredibly much! I’m really happy I found it.
We’ve all been there Grow Bro, checking on them every 20 minutes…super helicopter dad. Keep your environment, lighting and nutrients in check and you’ll harvest some top shelf home grown. Less is best and keep it simple
See with growing. It can be more then one thing causing a issue. Being fresh soil i would not be concerned. But using cal mag at a normal amount definitely will not hurt. To early?..maybe but could also be ph caused. It is in soil after all its not like every sq inch is the same consistency. I have had this at a early stage in my time using ff, and the calmag certainly helped. Certainly wont hurt. Lastly maybe the soil ph is low, been alot of people complaining lately about ff soil with low ph. Remember, seems every1 is missing this part, calcium is locked out below 6.3. That not very low from the desired 6.5. Reality is, if it was needed and is locked out, no amount will help bc it cannot absorb. Dont overthink this, hopefully it works itself out but now have more info to help.
I took all into consideration. I did add calma to the water and adjusted the ph of the water to around 6.7. The color of the plant in question is already looking a little better. Will keep an eye on if the brown spots continue to accumulate as they were. I really appreciate everyone’s input!
