Cal mag issue and question

Hey guys, I’m pretty sure my girls are suffering from a lack of cal mag. I’ve ordered some but it will be a few days before it gets here. Is there anything I can do to help the girls until then (assuming that’s even the problem)? I hope I haven’t ruined my grow!

I’m using happy frog, 5gal pots, used nutes a couple times but was advised they are too young for it so ceased. I believe my issue was cal mag deficiency and also the top of the plants were getting too hot. Adjusted the fan higher to dissipate the heat and hoping some cal mag solves the other problems but any advice is appreciated.

Calcium and magnesium deficiencies tend to show first on newer growth. That looks like a nitro deficiency

Looks like the leaves touching the soil, which as you stated had nutes in it. Indirect nute burn IMO, am new to growing. I’d cut those leaves, not going to do anything for the girl.

Zee is rite i think. Anything that touches the soil too long dies. Somthin to do with the stomata i think. Clip her off and jam on, idabeaight!:call_me_hand:

Thanks guys. I will get rid of the bad leaves. There are several in the upper growth with some brown spots too, I should have took pics of those as well. But hoping I can get all this sorted so my girls don’t die. They are looking better already but I’m still worried about them lol.

Yea der give pics of rown spots. Close uo both sides of leaf and whole plant.

@Silverback here are the pics.

What’s your’ ph going in and the runoff ph? Also, what light are they under?

@Cannacure not sure on the run off. pH’d nutes to 6.5 before all this occured. I used grow big and big bloom. Happy frog soil and a 600w viparspectre led

Ok. You for sure need to get a runoff ph reading or a soil ph reading. I had similar problems, but while it was a calcium deficiency, it wasn’t because the soil didn’t have enough. My ph had drifted to acid and ph under 6.2 can lock out nutrients in soil. I flushed them well and we are all good again.

@Cannacure I confess I’m ignorant on run off and the tdm meter. I use it to check the water before feeding and then again on the run off, is that correct?

Yes. Shoot for over 6.2 but preferably around 6.5 is ideal.

@Cannacure help! Lol I have no idea what is going wrong with my girls. My biggest and best looking one looked borderline dead today at lights on. I used the TDS meter and the water was 320ish going in and the run off was between 390-410. I’m thinking this means they are having lockout issues but I don’t know what I did or how to fix it. Any ideas?

my “best” one looking pitiful in just 24 hours

this one is suffering but still going.

I didn’t include my runt cause it’s looked awful since birth lol. I’m so confused because they were all doing so well and almost overnight they look awful.

I’m more concerned with overwatering and the ph. I’m not sure what’s wrong. How often and how much have you been watering? What’s the environment like? Temp and humidity? What was the ph of the runoff? How wet is the soil now? How wet was it when you watered.

@Cannacure watering when it’s dry about an inch deep. 6.4 pH last watering. Watered today actually. I added @1/3 dose of grow big as someone had suggested nitrogen deficiency. Temps are usually between 73-81, but mostly 77 (depends on the temps outside). Humidity sits around 53ish. They perked back up after the watering. Cal mag is on the way. I’m wondering if my pH was wrong or nutes too strong and it caused lockout? I have it a decent flush when I watered today. Here is the one that was in the worst shape now. Looked dead in 6 hours and rose from the dead in a few hours of light lol

Mine droop a little when I water, but not that bad. Did you water until you got runoff and test the ph of the runoff?

@Cannacure I will be honest, I forgot to pH the run off. It’s my first grow and I was focused on the TDS meter lol. Will check the pH next watering. Ive seen what I’d call it’s normal droop but it’s never been so bad. I’m wondering if the lack of cal mag caused lockout, or maybe the potassium I gave it caused it. I’m not 100% sure. Seeing how they reacted to the feeding, I don’t think Ive been overwatering and it’s likely a nute issue. I’m just trying to learn as I go and keep them alive lol. Thank you for your help.

@Cannacure hey man I checked the numbers and I came up with this:

Water going in.
TDS - 506
pH - 6.3

Run off:
4 plants.

  1. 774 and 6.3 pH
  2. 636 and 6.31 pH
  3. 648 and 6.26 pH
  4. 672 and 6.25 pH

This means they are in nute lockout?

Ok. I think the soil has more than enough to feed them right now. From the yellowing and the clawing, if these were my plants, I would assume they have a touch of nitrogen toxicity. I would flush them decent and just give them water until they perk back up. I don’t think they are ready for all that nitrogen just yet.

@Cannacure I appreciate your help. Would you keep giving them the cal mag with the water or just ph water?
