Since it’s a tomato plant. Once it gets a foot tall or so, defoliate, lay it sideways and bury at least halfway (or more depending on your season) The entire stalk you put under soil will grow roots. Will allow for explosive growth later.

Like blackberry stalks. I’ll have to try that when I get back to my normal start date. Wasn’t going to do any garden this year but decided to do a few plants to help camo the outdoor girls :green_heart::metal:

What @Low mentioned is a very old trick in growing tomatoes. Grandmother and clan planted them 45 degrees from the beginning. Buried alot of live plant.

Just like those who tie down main stems with training, grandmother said sideways promotes alot of root growth. My grandmother canned chow chow, easy 100 jars plus. Just her stash in the root cellar. Chow chow and beans and cornbread, enough said. Have a great day.
