I inspected her for seeds on several buds this morning. So far so good on not hermie. I believe sheāll be dry tomorrow. Iāll let her go till Saturday and chop her.
Wish i found this post earlier to verify what Iāve been dealing with. My overfed autos were getting so close, then pistils started taking over. My Tangerine main cola is huge, but now misshapen due to new growth. Iām feeling your pain. First autoflower garden, overfed the hell out of them, now I just want them to be done. How did yours turn out?

Same here.
Your pictures didnāt upload
Donāt let the foxtails get you down. Itās only more weed. And if youāre going to grow autoflowers in the future get used to them. They definitely make it a little more difficult to read the trichomes when itās time as the new growth covers the old bud.
Your plans look great you got a lot of weed. I always suggest photos to the new grower as autoflowers have very little room for error. And theyāre very unforgiving when you make one.
That particular Auto flower was a green crack. She went 11 weeks in veg itās 17 or 18 additional weeks in flower. The weed was fire and she did a little more than 1 lb of buds and about another 4 oz of Larf & trim. She was an amazing girl.
How many weeks of flower are yours in?
They are in week 11 of flower. I was told over feeding did this. I actually chopped one of my plants already. It was way ahead of the others in terms of bud maturity and had some amber. Buds look great but flavor is light. I just want a new opportunity to start over and hopefully not screw things up. Do the new pistils keep growing indefinitely or will it end? These plants will run long because of my overfeeding. I just hope the buds are ok.
Overfeeding happens, it may or may not have caused any foxtailing. I believe foxtailing is more genetics than stress or lighting. (My personal opinion) Iāve grown enough autoflowers that foxtails and it doesnāt even bother me anymore.
The short answer is theyāre going to continue to keep going. Sometimes when you catch it early and you back the light off in intensity and distance it slows it down tremendously. It really all depends.
If youāre going to continue to grow autoflowers you havenāt seen the last foxtailing you can trust me on that one.
What makes your auto flower and autoflower is the ruderalis genetics if you ever look at a full-blooded ruderalis plant the buds look exactly like a foxtail. (See below)
As I said I believe itās more genetics than anything. Donāt worry your plant is going to produce lots of tasty pungent weed. Foxtailing does not dictate pungency whatsoever.
Looks like you got a little dwarf midget in the back. It will create the most pungent weed out of them all. Iāve grown enough midgets. Theyāre approximately 40% stronger
You really need to take your time and do everything right with auto flowers. Learn from your mistakes you donāt repeat them. Autoflowers require very little nutrients.
Youāre going to be just fine!
Thanks so much for this. I guess in my research of autos i didnāt find much on foxtailing, so it came as a surprise, although i know my overfeeding and the one dose of GH Floranova i gave didnāt help. Yes, the short, stout plant is Seed Supreme Tangerine and the main cola is now almost fist size, although Iād like to see more trichomes. The other 2 photos are supposedly the same strain, Super Skunk, but they look vastly different. The purple one is my stinkiest plant ever and i love it. The other one looks really ruderalis-like and i dont know what will happen with her. My temps are 79-81 with lights on. Is that too hot? Nighttime temps are 71-72. I did apply bio char at one point, hoping to suck out all the overfeed, but didnāt really notice a difference. Iām pretty much using all BuildaSoil products.
In late flower I keep my temps 72 to 75Ā° and my relative humidity around 50%
Your next grow if youāre not using it you may want to try silica at the stretch. It makes your branches and stems much more durable and helps with trichomes.
Your trichome production and maturity usually comes in time with patience. Some do more than others some do less than others.
Are all of your girls in 11 weeks of flower?
To keep the temps down, are you just running fans at higher speed? Yes, all the girls are in week 11. Crazy how they are all in different stages. As I said, Iāve already chopped one of my Tangerine plants. It just developed a lot faster than the others, and when the foxtailing started, I didnāt want it on that plant. It was mostly cloudy with a few amber so I chopped. Got a little over 1.5 ounces but the buds all look nice. Taste could be a little stronger. Yes, I have silica and am anxious to try, although I thought it was more for strengthening branches, which I know can be tricky with LST. I wasnāt aware that silica added to trichome production, but all the more reason to try. I do hope this auto garden turns out some nice bud. I am addicted to the stinky strains. I was on FastBuds site the other day and ordered some of their OG autos that apparently are the stinkiest in their portfolio-Skunk, Cheese, Chemdawg and OG Kush. That garden will be smelly.
Iām up to 10 seedlings and counting in my photo tent. Banana Kush, Blackberry Kush, Triangle Kush, OG Kush, Sour Kush, Lemonpaya, Fruity Pebbles and Royal Gorilla. Will have to use 3 gallon pots and it will be crammed in a 4x4, but Iām planning a short veg to keep plants smaller and will also be topping.
Thatās why I say use after the stretch
In winter I use heat. In summer I use air conditioner for the hot days
chemdawg & gorilla cookie are 2 must try for super strong by 420 Fastbuds
I have Gorilla Cookie seeds from FastBuds as well. I admit seeds are becoming a bit of an issue. I think i have enough for the next couple of years, but keep adding. The 5pk mystery from FastBuds is my next auto garden. Do FastBuds seeds produce foxtails?
I know exactly what you mean. Iāll never need anything else. Iām stacked.
Unfortunately yes. Any breeders autos are risk of foxtailing
Iām growing the fast buds Mystery Pack and there is one early bird that has an amazing smell and purple and orange and green beautiful colors. Iāll triched out just waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for that Amber to show. I have eight plants in a 4x4 and I wonāt do it again unless theyāre all the same strain. But itās been fun and keeping me on my toes
Whatās your grow medium and have you fed much?
Interesting reply from FastBuds yesterday. I sent Enzo my photos and asked hom to verify the foxtailing. He insists that my plants (Not FastBuds seeds) are not foxtailing but rather just unhealthy from overfeeding. He said if plants were healthy it could be foxtailing, but given the symptoms plants are showing, it is not genetic foxtailing. Iāve learned in the plant world, there is never a consensus.
Thatās very strange. I talked to Enzo a few times. He sent me a envelope full of single seed packets. Heās also very highly respected grower and his reputation is worldwide. What he said sounds like bull
You made some mistakes but you rectify them. Itās foxtailing
