Hey I’m a new grower and I have 2 small auto flowers that I am growing in a 4x4 tent. I plan on chopping the plants and washing the buds because of pests and my cats. After washing I will dry in the tent at aroud 65 to 70 F and 55 to 60% humidity. Lights off and fans on for 24 hrs. Then move to the cannatrol for drying and curing. Any input and/or revisions is appreciated…
With my makeshift “cannatrol” it took 9 days for 21 OZ of wet trimmed bud to be at the proper moisture content for curing. Came out at 7.1oz dry with about a cup and a half of water removed.
I suggest a moisture meter, it’s more accurate than basing it from the RH so you don’t pull them too early/late.
If you are using the Cannatrol, you will only have to let the buds dry overnight to get rid of excess moisture from washing. The Cannatrol only holds 2.2 lbs of wet material.
What I do:
1 - harvest
2- Trim off large leaves (makes washing easier)
3 - Bud wash
4 - Hang dry overnight…your parameters sound good
5 - Wet trim the buds - allows me to get more buds in the Cannatrol before hitting the max 2.2 lbs
6 - Put the wet trimmed buds in the unit and let it do its thing.
Nice looking bud, the Cannatrol will do a great job for you, I just got a second one about a week ago.
Hey. I probably need a dehumidifier maybe?
If you are only hanging overnight you will be ok with some airflow (not directly on the buds) and rh below 65%…I’ve gone as high as 70% the first night when rack drying…but like it closer to 60%
Hello, sorry but I have to ask: what did the cat do?? .
I manage just about with my cats, cats like to be part of what their owner do and 2 of my cats, happily lay down in the grow room, when the lights are on, like Roman emperors, they never touched the plants tho., I have a water pistol ready if they try and touch them
They shed their hair everywhere. And on everything…
Sounds like you have ling hair cats.
I have 5 but they are all short hairs, don’t shed as much.
I have cats ( 3 indoors short haired) and even with my grow being in another building, the cats shed the hairs stick to my clothes. When i go out to the bus, no matter if i touch a plant or not, theres always a few strays that get on the buds. I wash regardless. I have before and after bud wash pics i took with my microscope somehwhere, ill have to find them and show you the difference. I grow indoors so i can only imagine what outdoor buds collect.
Very cool!
You mean there are always cat hairs on the buds regardless?
I am not sure i understand entirely what you mean, sorry
Ok, I think I got everything now.
I must have some hairs on my buds for sure then, I just don’t notice it
I never tought about what buds collect, outside even more, being sticky and all.
Sorry, i was really baked when i wrote that. Anything that sticks to your clothes will stick to your buds. I have oscillating fans in my flower room (The Magic School Bus). And anytime the breeze is blowing, whatever is on my clothes can potentially end up on the buds. Believe it or not, pet hair can harbor bugs or bug eggs and you can transfer bugs to your plant via pet hair.
Yep this
My daughter has cats and seems to not notice cat hair every where
Often gets rolled up or have to pick one out of dab containers at her house.
I couldn’t imagine my cannibus growing in that environment
I’ve nothing against cats and my daughter keeps a decently clean house, it’s just how nature works
If i had cats they wouldn’t be in my grow room and definitely not the tent.
Why are there insects? How small are they?
I have the jewelry lens, it’s x 50 and x90, i think
How much stronger it’s your microscope?
The “aphids” or any other insects, can come from anywhere.
In my grow, the likely source was outdoor clones, brought indoor.
Learning process.
I am learning to grow outdoor and indoor.
Expensive learning, for sure ( all the bells and whistles).
Seeing is believing.
Sharing is caring.
Ladybugs were purchased and introduced to my tents and yard.
They eat aphids and other things.
TBT, Forum contributors diagnosed my bugs, with light speed.
Wow, i’ll have a good read at those info as soon as i have a moment.
Thanks for now, appreciate
