Thanks guys, much appreciated. @Drinkslinger @CMichGrower @MidwestGuy
SO Excited to take photos 2morrow. Still week 4 til Sat-Sun. But you got to love the sugar leaves. Since I did the major pruning…I have just been going in daily a plucking any leaf that is turning into a fan leaf. If that makes sense. Getting really sticky.
They typically don’t recover. Not a big deal if caught early.
Can you trim them off? The canopy is so thick I might trim a couple anyway. I don’t want to do the wrong thing though. @Drinkslinger @CMichGrower
So long as you remove leaves for a purpose I see no reason not to take a few every day, it will do no harm. Heavy defoliation just to open the canopy may actually slow things down.
It could slow down the calcium issue or the the rate of growth? @CMichGrower
You can remove damaged leaves if you want.
I’d leave them until they’re fully yellowed, since the leaves contain mobile nutrients the plant can still access. Then I’d pluck them off and add them to compost.
