Done a tmv test and it was negative but did find out it is mites what is good to kill them
I’m sorry I bothered you@Majiktoker, I did research it and both George Cervantes and Mel Frank say to destroy all plants infected! George Cervantes go on to say, I quote " no chemical sprays are effective on viruses " Again I am sorry I asked. Mike
Hey Grower17, I would be grateful if you could tell me where you got a test for tmv. Thank, Mike
Got it off eBay just look up tobacco mosaic virus test kit
Tobacco recipe @garrigan62 has…
Hey Grower17, just wanted to mention you are not allowed to recommend e-bay here, only Amazon because they support our forum. Take care Mike
1:15 - 1:19 of this video has some interesting pictures of TMV ? ( looks a lot like what I thought was septoria, but the sulfur stopped it instantly and gave me a Great Harvest, and my reasoning is because it responded like that it was the septoria, still I’m interested in the test kit )
hi Mike, I think it’s okay for him to say he got it on eBay, they just don’t want people to put links up I guess, but I’m glad he mentioned it, I didn’t know it was a thing
I’d like to test to know what’s going on, I get a couple weird spots, they’re always on the autos for some reason (I don’t plan to grow Autos they just keep sending me free seeds)
…saw something about soaking your seeds in a mild bleach solution, not sure about that though ? …anyone have input on this ?
Anyway following This Thread with a lot of interest great info thanks
Hey Paranorman, I went on Ebay, but could not find it. I probably did something wrong as I only shop on Amazon. Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.I have heard of using that bleach water for seed born diseases. From what I read the disease is contracted after the plant comes up. I just ordered 2 different books on Amazon about viral diseases in plants. One is on tmv only. Sulphur, huh, did it say at what point in the plants life you can apply it. I would think that this would have to be done before bloom or before the disease has taken over the plants fluids. I think once that happens it’s a goner. Thanks again for the video, Mike. P.S. I love the guy at the end of video with his opinion. It really made me laugh. Later Mike
Use this to your mites
Tabacco Juice recipe
Take 3 strong ciggeretes soak them over night in water
Boil it for 2 to 3 miniutes, let it cool off and spray the plants 3 to 4 times a week. You can add safer soap if you like to the mixture.
(make absolutly sure you use gloves/face protection while handling and spraying)
Will
I’m curious too Mike, I’m going to hunt for it later on Amazon or maybe check next time I’m at my hydro store they seem to have pretty much everything
I have some of those colorations on a couple of leaves on my Autos but I burn sulfur and it’s been doing the job so I gotta think that it’s not TMV but holy cow I kind of almost hope it’s anything else cuz from what I’ve read it’s nearly impossible to get it out of an area
There is something called ‘Psysan20’ on the market, but I would certainly get the test before I went to that level of cleaning, anyway I just woke up coffee time I’m going to try to stay positive I just wanted to share that that is a pretty good video pretty funny too and I found he had the best info out of the vids I looked at so wanted to share ![]()
Hey @Garrigan62, how much water do you use with those 3 cigarettes? And if I could ask one more question, if you are suppose to keep any tobacco or smoking away from plants because of the chance of tmv, how is it that we can spray this on our plants for mites and not get tmv? Seems like a contradiction to me? If you could elaborate on this I would be grateful. Thanks, Mike
Thanks pal, I appreciate it. Mike
Because one is mixed with water…you should honestly research how tmv is introduced to cannabis plants…
@mcicchino read this…might help clarify things for you
Hey@majiktoker, I was up till 4 am reading articals about this. It seems like the vectors of this viral disease are everywhere. I smoked cigarettes for thirty years, had one hanging out of my mouth while I transplanted my plants in to bigger containers. Never had any viral problems. I quit several years ago, but like you said it can be anywhere, the carpets, tools, old dirt. I was surprised that it will lay dormant on the outside of a seed that came from a contaminated plant. As I remember it when the plants that came down with it had some holes in the leaves and I later killed what we called a stink bug, here in the south. I was lucky that the other plants were not effected in that grow. I had seen the link you sent before and it is a good one. That guy cracks me up! The more I read, the more questions I have. Hopefully the 2 books I ordered on Amazon about tmv and other viral diseases will help answer some missing questions. Thanks for your time, Mike
We have stink bugs here to and my pleasure
Hey Grower17, I was wondering if Garrigan62 let you know how much water you should soak those 3 cigarettes in? I hope you are having a great day. Mike
No not I’ve see
Yes he said to boil for 2 to 3 min and spray 3 to 4 times a week
Hey pal, I was wondering how much water to start with. Do you soak the cigarettes in a pint of water or a quart? The strength of that tobacco juice would be controlled by the amount of water in it. You know what I mean? Thanks in advance, Mike
