Where was dli measurement taken and what time duration? Your dli should really be calculated from the ppfd average of your space, not taken as single point measurement. Using proper method a good target dli is 40ish on 12 hour schedule.
No one asked but if you want a good cheap light, I’d go for a KingBrite. They’re on Alibaba rather than Amazon, but they’re cheap ($130 for a 240w with UV/IR). Add $36 for shipping, boom, 240 quality watts for $170.
They have other lights but you need to contact them to have them reduce the “value” of the light when they ship from China - the lower the dollar value they claim, the lower your shipping cost due to the duties & customs fees. So if you’re after a bigger light, it’s well worth negotiating the shipping with them. The customer support has been pretty A+ so far for me.
I have an HLG setup, and some cheap Amazon blurples, and some home-built lights. I don’t think they beat the KingBrite for ease of use, output, and bud production.
yeah ive messed with them in the past for other things and if they dont do that exactly its a horror sho for everyone involved.(85000 dollar laser cutter)
the app kept freezing up and locking my phone.Are you saying check the corners too?Should I leave my phone inside the tent overnight?I put one girl inside for a test with fans and light to see a positive/negative reaction.I see where this light is warm but im maintaining 79’ 50%

Hey @lazijames i always like reading light questions because I find it incredibly interesting, like the saying “More then 1 way to skin a cat” I sure that light will work and like others have said they have used it and had good results. I have limited experience but I have a spider farm sdf-1000, and a new Viparspec xs 1500!_light all with Samsung 301 dios and meanwell driver. Both lights worked and did well. When I upgraded to HLG 300 the biggest difference I noticed is that my bigger HLG light ran cooler then the other 2 and put out way more light. So it comes down to efficiency. With those smaller lights I had to keep fans blowing on them cause they ran hot. Now instead of having multiple fans running I just have 1 large tower fan to help circulate air when before I had to keep adjusting fans to help deal with the heat. My 2 cents, all comes down to efficiency, less equipment to buy and use less electricity. Sorry long response good luck and best of growing
thank you.I too like learning from others.Looks like ill have to give hlg another call.I totally agree with efficiency and dont mind spending the money but I also dont want to waste it either.The light has to be right on top of them for correct DLI > as stated prior It looks like I would need 2 of them not just one like the “ad” says.
Even check out the scorpion or the 650r for a 4x4 both great lights
It’s not just the corners, you need a well plotted average of entire space to have reasonably accurate idea of what your dli is. If it’s not a matter changing lights or adding/subtracting amount of fixtures, I wouldn’t even bother checking. That becomes a situation of you have what you have, and measuring isn’t going to change it much.
I don’t really see how Leaving your phone inside of tent will help you, so probably wouldn’t do that either.
Also just wanted to add, I know HLG light are Not Cheap, I went with the refurbished model to save some $. Only comes with 1 yr warranty but I ordered mine when they were having one of there sales, so if you are interested in there light and do not need it right now, wait, they have sales quite often, can get 10,15, or even 20 percent off. Also last time I checked I think the Dude 10!code is still good for 10 percent off
Unfortunately they never even returned my call the other day.
They are located in Ohio I live close to them we experienced a lot of snow and bad weather, for example my work was closed today they may be in same position, I have called and talked to a live person, I have also emailed and got a response back that day, sorry to hear that but I think you will hear from must people that Normally have great customer service. I figured as much. But I did call during their sale so I figured they would still sell it on sale. Who knows? I’ll have to give them another call.
Is there a certain height that i should be doing the measuring at?I know the websites that sell them show at 12 and 18 inches but I am thinking it should penetrate parts of the canopy to the floor not just the tops. Other light arrived today but im sure after testing I will move on to greener pastures with something more commercial.Sorry if I sound stupid but im in a learning curve right now.
I’m not sure there is an exact height. Those numbers are really misleading sometimes. The definition of ppfd is ppf per square meter. Ppf is photosynthetic photon flux, and your light will have what it has, as in it doesn’t put out more light when its lower. Outside of having your light so high that photons are being eaten up by your walls I wouldn’t worry about. You should try to run your light where you have the best balance of intensity and coverage. This has as much to do with physical dimensions of your light as it does the output. A big light in a small space can usually be run pretty close because the light output is spread over much larger area and will have more uniform intensity. A small light in a larger space has to be run higher to make sure it throws light across the entire space instead of just directly below it.
