From someone whose other half has been administering UAs for over 20 years and can spot fake piss from a mile away… there is NO true way to mask a UA, especially if observed. The only way to even possibly confuse an instant is with dilution and even then its hard to get temps within range.
I had to observe one for a DOT the other day. She had already busted him for synthetic and so he had to retest. I was called in to observe. When he dropped his drawers and spun around, the bottle fell out 
lets just say he didnt study hard enough..

I did UAs for DOT license seems like every other year and a couple of pre-employment. Never had any issue with some one “ overseeing” me piss in a cup. Now on probation that’s a different ball game.

Theres a few instances where you have to be observed. In his case, he submitted synthetic urine which was way over temp on his first attempt. That triggered a second attempt which then has to be observed.

If you fail a DOT, they put you on a probation of observed specimen collection.

No I was on probation for possession. And they watched like they wasn’t going to miss a drop. Every time. But any other time I would put a 3oz bottle in my arm pit that comes with the sample. Synthetics-3. One hour works
