Blackthumb betty's 6 auto strain next (mis)adventure! 2/13/18

Yeah, I do that too, I’ll take off the bigger fans that stick out and then dry.

I wet trimmed all, except the last plant,
a random bag seed girl. Well, I trimmed off all leaves on her, except the smallest sugar leaves. Took forever to dry enough to jar. However, her smell while dry trimming those sugar leaves was stupendous.

I think I might do a mostly wet trim, from now on.

Except I don’t go back. I don’t have time! Lol

My ambient rH is normally about 50%.

@dbrn32, what makes it easier wet than dry?

Either way it seems to be an arduous task and I hope to figure out how to get a great product with as little work as possible.

@merlin44 when wet trimming, the leaves aren’t shriveled up close to the flowers.
I prefer wet trimming because when you trim the leaves wet, then when they dry, they kind of shrink in behind the flowers. It expresses a more beautifully manicured bud that way.
You could get a bowl trimmer on amazon. It does okay, some members use them here.

I ended up cross-eyed with sore fingers and a flat ass from trimming all of that dry material away after drying. When it’s wet you can remove leaves or trim them back or both and it’s way easier. I just did 3 plants on Friday with a friend to help. Still took all day but it wasn’t particularly arduous either. You’d be at it 3 times as long once they dry.

The leaves cut, like very easily. Like @Covertgrower said when dry they are more shriveled and crunchy and it feels more like your breaking and rarely where you need it too.

I don’t feel like I’ve noticed any difference in end product wet vs dry. So you I don’t see any reason you couldn’t try half your crop one way and the rest the other if you want. That’s just my personal experience.

Well, I am convinced that wet trimming is the way to go with maybe a final trim before jarring. Thank you everyone for weighing in, I really appreciate the well thought out and detailed answers.

I might try a bowl trimmer, myself.

There’s a discussion about them in my journal, somewhere along the first week of May.

I haven’t tried dry trimming. From what I saw it looked like it would make the job a little harder. It was pretty easy wet for me. And it was my first time.

@hogmaster

Water & feed wise, is it also similar to soil? Or does it require daily watering/feeding/etc?

I’m also thinking of switching to Promix on my next grow. I’d love to hear what the pros and cons are compared to soil.

i’m no pro @raustin ,but i like the control that you have on your plants using a pro-mix…

Well, I want to switch to Promix for even more control. Lol, does that make me a control freak?
