Biochar + Compost vs Biochar + Salts

Hey everyone. I hope I have a novel conversation to start here. I’ve just assembled all the pieces needed to make the best artisan biochar on this side of the Mississippi!

Are you familiar with Biochar?
Have you used it and grown with it?

I’m running an experiment. I’d like to know which solution would give the best consistent results for the life time of the user. As you know, biochar will do its thing for hundreds if not thousands of years.

If I soaked this biochar in wormcaste tea/compost or its high end equivalent, would that be the hands down way to go?

If I went the salts route, is there just one set of salts I can soak the biochar in? Not sure if salts have varying NPK’s for the different stages of growth.

Has anyone ever grown their plants in 100% biochar before?

I like to hear all your thoughts on this subject.

@Skydiver @noddykitty1 both have experience with this I believe, so I’ll tag them on this.

There’s a great post here in the forums regarding this subject-

Don’t pay cash…Charge it…Bio CHARge it that is - Grow Mediums / Soil - ILGM Forum

I went to the search magnifier and searched “char char char” including the parenthesis, and it was the second offering that came up. Towards the end of the thread is the video, but there is a great discussion before that. Hope that helps.

I pee on it several times to charge before it goes into the tea brew with FFA & Microbe Complete

Hi Darren, I learned how to make, activate and manage Bio-Char through a website called “ blue sky biochar” (.com). Best to You!

Thank you @Growing_Strong . I’m thinking about doing that for an area of my yard that’s compacted clay and have a hard time growing anything in it. I did just do a big sunflower garden in it to help break it up, so now that I pulled all of them out, the soil is prime to be worked on. Thanks again.
