Just want a headache free grow, I have craft blend and build a bloom but wanted a solid soil that I won’t have to give mites for a while. I see a local grow store carry’s happy frog and roots organic but wanted to see others recommendations. I would like to go organic in all my grows
Pretty sure @Poseidon1 can help with the organic style of growing
Good Thursday to you. If you want a grow that is as easy as it gets check out Roadside Organics. They are on this app and there are a few that use it. @MeEasy is killing it with the Highway Dust from Roadside Organics. It’s as close to water only as you can get.
Happy Thursday! This is the first I’ve heard about them so I’m intrigued, thank you.
Thankyou brother @OGIncognito for the tag. @Bigcbud hey mr. There is endless options out there of water only style grows. Im assuming you are willing to top dress amendments as needed. There is other options without top dressing but i would recommend a good soil, and then top dress at appropriate times. I would recommend gaia green, or down to earth. The down to earth has countless single style inputs and is relatively cheap. Im using gaia green myself atm. I top dress every two weeks, and water only start to finish with no runoff ever. It is a nice change. I am a coco guy at heart, the yeilds are amazing in coco and it is stupid simple aslong as you feed daily. I went to organics this round not out of simplicity, but bc im doing a test with clones to compare to synthetic so i can rule out which method is better once and for all. Afterall, just bc some1 had a different experience, does not make it fact. I need to find out for myself. Im betting that the organics will yeild a bit less, but is more flavorfull and better terpene profile. As far as soil, im running coast of maine Stonington blend. First time ever i never had any bugs on the plants or any damage caused from them. Ive had thrips every single time i used ocean forrest. Happy frog is good stuff, but a little less hot compared to the ocean forrest. Reality is…you can get bugs in any soil, it is a roll of the dice regardless of what people say. Only way to be certain is with coco dehydrated bricks. Never had any bugs. Feel free to reach out anytime.

This is what im using with the coast of maine. Along with fishsh!t, worm castings, and ff big bloom. yes this all organic.
I also use this with great success. Water only.
I knew that but couldn’t think of you in the moment
Hey growmie thanks for the response. Yeah definitely too dress at some point to use what I have. I have craft blend top dress but wasn’t paying attention and have the water only type of buildabloom.
Is it possible to feed everyday with top dressing? I mean I have the time to feed everyday but that seems like I could never go out of town for any extended period of time with the feed daily.
Honestly the simplicity is what attracted me to organic living soil and reading the smoke may be smoother. If you have a grow journal or waiting to post your results at the end I would like to be a part of that.
I have also heard about those soils containing fungus gnats at the very least so it has me hesitant to pull the trigger. I was recommended build a soil 3.0 if you’ve heard anything about it. I saw when I bought my top dress but was trying to keep the initial investment low. I can only do two in a frowned upon state so pest problems would stress me out.
Ammend every 3 weeks to a month depending on nutrient line.
Thanks man that makes sense with the two week window.
i’ve probably tried every method known to man when it came to battling those fungus gnat bastards. what seems to work the best for me is Mosquito Dunks and or Beneficial Nematodes (SF)
now, instead of throwing out full sticky traps each week, I might get 1 or 2 stuck on said traps per week.
This is the first on here that I’ve seen someone say this. It seems most are the opposite with occasional testing, or frequent testing of runoff numbers. Is there a specific reason why you dont water to runoff?
Hey brother…sorry been really busy. Top dressing is not needed daily. Typically 2 week or 4 wk intervals. Follow your directions. I needed to feed twice as much as recommended, but being not familiar with yours, proceed with the directions.
As far as simplicity goes. The simplest is coco and jacks hand down. Cannot mess it up. Only if you do not feed daily to adequate runoff. Organic is nice, but takes time to dial in. Im not a expert by any means organically. But both styles have pros and cons. I got a journal on here you can check out if you like. No action but tried to be detailed. Sorry im not familiar with your nute line to further assist. Practice will make perfect. Write down and take notes to have a record so you can improve. We all never stop learning.
Yes there is a reason. Its organic. Runoff is wasted nutes. Alot of guys here run coco and synthetics, runoff is needed. Its a different style. Many ways to grow good gange.
I just didn’t know that top dressing would break down in a reasonable time without the critters/worms/ and microbes doing their thing. I thought they wouldn’t be present in a coco only type medium so that’s good to know. I use pure coco in my worm bins but I know I feed them craft blend every once in a while for grit so I’m sure that stuff is too hot for me to use.
If I go the coco route I will reach out and use your journal for this. I still have the organic living soil that is intriguing
Im sorry i must have confused you. I use synthetics with coco, (soiless) and i use amendments for soil, (organic).
That makes some sense. I’m using a living soil on my grow. I started doing what you said above and taking literal notes every time I water or notice something has changed. In hopes I can figure out the issue if it happens sooner than later. Plus helps me keep up with what I did or didn’t do. Like now my bottom leafs are slightly yellowing, which I was planning on taking out the solo cup anyway but I see I may have took a day or 2 too late. I’m assuming shes taken in most of the nutes that was available in there.
If looking for simple organic here is my method.
Organic potting soil unammended or lightly.
Perlite
Worm castings
Worms
Sometimes fish poop.
My dry nutes
A life booster.
Mix it all and cook either in bags or my bins a few weeks.
Plant with life added to the hole.
Keep MOIST not wet. Water.
Reammend top dress 3-4 week intervals.
Switch to bloom ammend 2 weeks before flip unless auto which is at beginning of noticable stretch… Rinse repeat till harvest.
Easy peasy. No runoff. No ph check unless over 8 or so. No ec check.
Super simple. Coco works well for all who use it. I just dont want to water all the time.
This is the method I followed but some people say that black kow runs hot and Kellogg has a lot of wood pieces in it so leeching certain nutrients.
I’ve always wondered this so I’m glad you commented. I kept reading once in flower and didn’t really know when that’s considered with an auto.
