Hello everyone. I was hoping to get some input. This year was only my second grow, both outdoors, but this is my first attempt at photoperiods. The weather has…sucked.
I’ve been fighting powdery mildew all season, clipping, spraying with neem, etc Now i finally have 2 or three plants getting about ready to harvest. But i am seeing something that i am not sure if it is the beginning stages of bud rot, or just the hairs and some smaller leaves dying off and turning brown. No white filaments or anything, but the whole reason i am growing myself instead of buying is that my wife is immunocompromised and has asthma, breathing issues a lot. So, i wanted to be sure i grew something without a bunch of chemicals, etc. I also have a few caterpillars up in one of these plants, that i only seem to find when i am clipping off some of these buds to take pics for you. So my secondary question is how do i find those when i harvest without cutting all the beds apart? I generally do a wash after harvest, so im not sure if they’ll come off during that, or if i have to cut apart all the buds???
Regardless, my main concern is this potential bud rot. It only seems to be on the buds ready to harvest. The buds that still have bright white hairs don’t seem to have any, so that is why i wasn’t sure. Id leave them for another week or two before harvest because some aren’t ready, but if i am getting bud rot, i understand its best to harvest now, toss any that could be infected, do a good peroxide bath, and then dry well.
Thoughts? I appreciate any help!
Sorry to say that looks like the dreaded rot to me, knock wood I have not found any yet,but sure it is on the way.

so, pitch the entire plant? Or cut off any that look brownish and harvest the rest?
I wash them and cut out everything that looks discolored. I keep whatever is salvagable.
I cut the bad out spray everything you use with water/peroxide mix and wipe between snips, then spray the area rot was with same mix, IIRC it is 3-4 to 1 water to peroxide, and get them rotten buds gone way a way from plants, is my go to until I get past about a third then yank the damn thing and then pitch it, it can get bad
@SausageMahoney Ok, that’s what ill do, and best to go ahead and harvest, even if some buds don’t look quite ready, huh?
If you have any that are not ready with no rot, leave them. If you still think you need more time, id trim out as much rot as i could and spray with 2/5 hydrogen peroxide at those spots. How long you think you have left?
Also in pic 2 over to the left on the fan leaf looks like eggs or Thirps???
All the pics look to show some rot. If you’re harvesting really early it affect the quality and how it smokes. Since you have a concern for you wifes breathing, you really want to get rid of it. It was a really wet summer for a lot of us. You could extract for edibles. That’d be better for her breathing. As far as the catapillars, ive been find them on my indors right at lights on. Might look for them at night or dusk?
I agree with @SausageMahoney about the edibles or some form of extraction. Weed that wasn’t ready to harvest is harsh. It can have a bad taste and also cause headaches and/or nausea. Burns the throat/lungs.
As far as the rot, cut and discard ALL affected areas to fresh green growth. A misting of H202 and distilled water mixed at 50% will help prevent any mold or mildew.
For bugs and pests, a common trusted product is Captain Jacks Dead Bug. I use the concentrate mixed at 1.5x strength. It is also a good idea to pick up another, non oil based product and use them in rotation.
Lastly, a thorough bud wash and rinse at harvest. This’ll get rid of bug carcasses, residual pest control products and other undesirables.

@SausageMahoney Some are ready. Some still have white hairs that havent turned brown yet, but trichomes are pretty cloudy. So not terribly early. Some are still just too early i think
Is it safe to spray with the 50/50 peroxide and water mixture when sunny out? or wait until dusk?
Sun down is best no lensing from droplets to burn plant.
