Beginner grower on a budget

Hello. I am new here and new to growing (anything). I am looking at the Blue Haze but was wondering a couple of things. As a beginner do you think it’s not a big enough difference to not start out with the autoflowering plant? I really like the way the Blue Haze sounds but it doesn’t seem to come in auto. Also I will be trying this the very old fashioned way with no equipment. It will be a pot in my room, soil, seed, and water. How much chance do I have in ending up with a healthy(ish) plant? Anyway, thank you for any advice anyone wants to give. Except to buy a grow light, etc. because I don’t have the funds for anything like that.

Actually, after doing some more research, I think I’m going with Chocolope. It was under the section for beginners and has the attributes I’m looking for. But the rest of my question remains.

Sereana where are u based

If you do without light do outdoor, need to feed you plant with nutrients that and take care you plants from pets and mold is all you need

Photos is good for new growers cuz they had time to recovery from any damage autos they had short time for recovery

Agreed. If the autos don’t get a strong start, or you make some mistakes, like we all do, an auto can be disappointing.

I think I lucked out with mine. I have snapped one in half, f’ed up LST, too much light, too little light, sprouting containers too small, etc…

I have read and re-read this many times. I suggest you do the same.

A zero equipment grow may interest some folks here. I will tag a few.

Hey there Serena, It’s actually kinda funny because this takes me way back to my very first grow about 12 years ago. I did exactly what you said it was as simple as a 1gallon pot, filled with a mix of half potting soil and half Tiny rocks (pebbles) From the driveway that I cleaned real well, & mixed with the potting soil for better aeration. Then placed the pot on the east facing window ledge every single night so it would get the sunlight as it first rises and then mid day I would move the pot to the kitchen window facing west for sun setting. And the occasional sitting the pot outside on bright sunny days about once a week or so. I will say this was a very tedious and annoying at times always moving the plant around chasing the sunlight but the annoying technique worked and my Northern Lights seed was able to produce a little under a half pound off of 1 indoor plant w/ no lighting at all. Any questions Feel free to ask.

Welcome

Then now is not the time to start a grow. Wait until June so you can take advantage of the sunlight.

Photoperiod feminized seeds would be a better choice as they are much more forgiving than autos however without a sealed tent thats not much of an option.

If growing autos the minimum amount of soil would be 3 gal for an experienced grower but that doesn’t seem to be the case here so I’d go with at least 5gal of soil. I would prob not select anything with haze in it because there is a strong chance of a really long flowering time and plant may stretch a lot.

I would suggest an easier strain to grow until you get your feet wet. A poorly grown northern light, gorilla glue or white widow will definitely outshine a poorly grow Haze.

Little to none, you get back from growing what you put in and you’re putting very little into it.

With no grow light (and growing indoors), really no point in wasting money on seeds. Try some free bag seeds and see how it works out.

Ah too far

Thank you for this! I understand this is a long shot, and if I end up able to I will get a light, but people did this for years without fancy equipment so I should be able to have SOME type of success using the sun by moving the plant around.

Best of luck and keep us posted with pictures!

Most of all, have some fun.

Welcome to the community ! I’m pretty familiar with WNC. Mid May till first Frost in October outside would be your best choice with no indoor equipment. Bag or two of cannabis friendly soil a little bit of nutes outside you’re good to go with some seeds. Happy growing

Windows help block UVA and UVB rays. I rescued a plant for a friend. Somebody cut all the buds.

He was growing it outside. I managed to reveg it and after it finished I was able to pull exactly 1oz dried, cured and no stems.

This was under a grow light.

Like it was suggested try bag seeds first. My friend did exactly what you are doing but his yield wasn’t close to 1oz.
