Hey guys, i was looking for some advice and I stumbled upon on this page and have been reading all day. So I picked up a Gorilla Glue clone yesterday, just to try out growing and I wanted some help getting pointed in the right direction. here are some pictures:
Im new to all of this and i would like to see if anybody can help me with my grow. My plant looks sad. The set up i have is only for this week till i get more funds to get the rest of the stuff but in the in the meanwhile i thought this would hold the clone over till then.
With that said, i would also like to know what would be the ideal beginner kit? Mind you im in a budget of $150-250.
Looking forward to talking and learning from you guys, Thanks in advance.
A light is what you should invest in. You can get a couple of cobs for pretty cheap and hang them. Also you can buy a qb 324 for like 190 and a driver for like 40$ that light would grow horticulturelightinggroup

@Garden2018 welcome to ILGM! @Aolelon steered you in the right direction with great links. (Which are unapproved, and should be edited @Aolelon)
If you were to look at any growers budget, lighting will be the single most expensive purchase in the budget.
Happy growing, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Just use the @ and then our name. @Covertgrower it’ll notify us of your response.
@Aolelon amazon is allowed. I think they’re working on getting more venders. Screenshots are always safe. No worries, just saving you from a finger pointing from a mod. lol
So I had a couple questions I only had this plant for about 2 days and im keeping a close look to see any changes in it. Im worried its leaves are down and wont come up i have it on light cycle for 18 hrs a day temperature is 72 degrees and the soil is from a tomato garden, i kno that might not be the best soil for it but i thought it would work. My question is:
What items do I need to get or change to help this baby get back up? And i keep on seeing pictures of other peoples plants and they look amazing, strong, really full of leaves unlike mine also I would like to know what do i have to do to make it expand horizontally since i feel like its too tall in comparison to others ive seen in the page. @Covertgrower@Aolelon

So, before we get to your question, we’ll need more information about your grow space. This is a help ticket, and saves us asking a lot of questions and eliminating variables fill it out as completely as you can. Be sure to let us know what you’re feeding her. We want to make sure we get your girl back on track!

What catches my eye is the straight dirt. You’ll want about a 75/25 mixture of good potting soil, perlite mix. The perlite is so you get better drainage so your roots receive more oxygen. Also you’ll wanna look into upgrading your grow light asap. Cfls will do in a pinch. A ph meter is a must a lot of folks here use foxfarms soil, apera ph meters, I use a cheap $20 that works fine. You’ll need nutrients. I use general hydroponic flora trio. You’ll need ph up and down. But I seen you was on a budget so what I would go for would be a new light and soil to start with you can get the rest as you go along
@dbrn32 may be able to suggest some lights that are within your budget. As mentioned, good soil, a PH meter, some PH up and down and some nutrients and you’ll be off and running.
Keep in mind that if you recently transplanted her she will go through a “shocky” period where she won’t look too healthy. Good luck @Garden2018
Be happy to help figure something out with lights. The better lighting you get the more it’s going to cost, and some of that other stuff is pretty crucial too.
I would suggest trying price out the things others have mentioned you’ll need and seeing roughly what will be left for lights. Tag me when you have an idea and I’ll see what I can come up with in the price range. In the meantime, you can probably lower your bulb a few inches. Otherwise I think @Covertgrower and the others giving you solid info.
@Garden2018 first I see is a lack of lighting, and nutrients. @dbrn32 will address the lighting needs. Have you picked out a brand of nutrients to feed her with yet?
That would probably be better than what you currently have. But it would be a lot better if you had it horizontally mounted with a reflector over the top.
The other thing with those is that you would want to not let the plant get terribly big before switching to flower, then switch to a warm white bulb for flowering.
@Garden2018@dbrn32 is correct. If your budget is limited to CFL’s, it’ll grow, but yields won’t be as much as they could be with a lot more lighting. As long as you accept that, then you’ll be fine. There are others on the forum with this type of lighting, so it does work.
So tomorrow will be the day i get some more stuff for my plant and i came across a sample box of heavy16 plant feed my question is if this sample box would help throughout the whole grow? or if it doesnt would it just be best to feed them the same brand of nutrients and not use this heavy16 sample box.
As long as you keep track of the NPK ratios, you can always mix nutrients together. As long as you know what you’re giving, how much, and when. You’ll be fine. @Garden2018
I used multiple brands with multiple NPK ratios. Where did you pick up that brand from?
