Geez, I hate that! One of the biggest problems outdoor in Va. Glad you caught it. Mind me asking if that is lost coast plant therapy you’re spraying? Those purple stem trichs are crazy!
Yes this seems to work. Says 1-2 oz per gallon but I don’t have a field to treat so I just mix it in a standard spray bottle so it reduces the amount needed to 1/4-1/2 oz per 32 oz water and is enough for two or more treatments for mine. I did a taste test on some of the treated leaves that were cut off after spraying now that they were dry today and found that I could taste the LC on it and it wasn’t pleasant. Bud wash was already planned but all the more reason for it now.
Indoors too. Outdoor air makes its way in with multiple daily door openings and is very difficult to keep it from getting into the tent without dropping serious money into projects like crawl space encapsulation, upgrades to the hvac filtration and a dehumidifier. Unfortunately until I can at least diy the crawl mold will be an issue here. I had stopped the weekly treatments when I flipped. The humidity the last few days seemed to have brought it out into view. It was just one spot on one bud as far as I could tell but I doused her to try and make damn sure.
Wow thanks for bringing that to my attention. I had been considering a tent under the house, but may look at putting that more indoors. When you think of the tent, I think most people assume there are no problems controlling the grow environment. Thanks again for opening my eyes. Those are some fine looking buds you have there. Yes, I too plan to bud wash, but hope to avoid the peroxide wash if possible. I’ve opted for bringing mine in at night and during storms to avoid pests and overnight rains. I guess it’s a good thing she’s such a pain to fit through the door.
After close inspection today I ended up removing the two biggest buds and I am going to let the rest keep growing for now. I expect to find more bud rot in the larger buds but what can you do at this point except accept it. I was impressed with how dense they are considering the one and only light is 135 watts, no where close to the recommended 200 watts. I broke the buds down into popcorn sized chunks and used a quart jar to 50/50 shake and soak wash then rinsed with running water on screen trays from a food dehydrator and have a small fan on low under the tray stack now. Separated the untouched pieces and they will be fine for normal use. The rest will go in a jar with other ruined buds for making topical once it’s dried out completely.
I expect to sleep like a 4 year old that just watched Hellraiser now. You’re scaring me.
That sucks man, at least you have the knowledge to not smoke it and are able separate it and make use of it for what you can. Hopefully the rest will plumpen up and be fine. Let us know how the good smokes!
I have not seen any signs of rot in the other colas. She gets another week or two if things stay that way.
And a shot of where the big buds used to be.
Man that girl is getting some junk in the trunk! Looking great. I’m glad you managed to stop the rot. That stuff makes me paranoid.
I ran 6 gallons of plain water through yesterday for the final watering. Chop and wash planned for next weekend.
Looking straight dank!
I know you’re excited. Congrats on a week to go.
Thanks yours is really coming along nicely too.
Thanks! It’s funny when she was outside I thought my biggest concern was spider mites. Turns out it was caterpillars. I’ve found 11 since she’s been inside. If I had left her out there I would have been harvesting sticks.
Keep a close eye on it. They are the pest most likely to cause bud rot by crapping in the bud which starts the process. It is apparently a very good year for botritis in Va. The worst part about trying to avoid it is that it begins where you can’t see it. By the time I spot the first sign of fuzzy white growth down in a bud it’s already started spreading and any treatment that sprays on really doesn’t get deep enough to kill all of it. Mold has been my biggest problem with this hobby and I’m still looking for a better way to try to prevent it. I have looked into water in preventatives on suggestion by a friend who uses one called regalia and has not had any problems until this summer so it seems like there may not really be any foolproof solution for this due to the area climate.
Are you catching flies with chopsticks.
That reply was supposed to go with the pics of the plants you posted looking very banzai-ish. Not sure why it put it here
The technique seems to work well. The tops got nice and heavy. Dense buds but the rot has gotten to all of them unfortunately. Going to break down to popcorns and extended soak bud wash whatever looks safe. I have given some thought to putting a portion aside in a water cure. Details posted here next week.
That’s harsh. I hope you are able to salvage some.
Sorry to hear about the Bud Rot brother
Have a great night
